This was the best oneshot I have read in awhile. It is always interesting when an author tries to convey the emotions of something that is unknowable, because that is when an author must push their imagination the furthest. How would the gods, undying and eternal, feel about this world? I'm glad that Kataoka Jinsei, the author of Deadman Wonderland, shared her opinion on the matter with us. The story itself has a strong core. A god who is tired of living, and his feelings toward Earth. The concept is both strong and uniquely compelling, allowing us to emphasize with a power far greater thanus, if even for a brief moment. The two characters are two gods, who each have a different personality and outlook on things. The characters don't develop, and I like that fact. As gods who have spent an eternity watching Earth, I would find it hard to swallow if they developed over the course of the few hours this manga seems to cover. We are given insight into each god, and how they cope with eternity, as well as how they feel about Earth and its inhabitants. Since this is only 16 pages, it isn't a perfect picture. It is, however, a gorgeously thought provoking one. Speaking of gorgeous, this manga looks great. The character designs are unique and interesting, and even the backgrounds and environments are given careful attention. I would expect no less from Kandou Kazama, the illustrator of Deadman Wonderland. This is a great oneshot to read. It gets your mind going and gets you to consider the perspective of something greater than us all, if such a thing exists. One of the better oneshots I have read, and I recommend it to anyone.
A god regularly attempts suicide but stays alive due to his immortal status. After one such attempt, he looks up to see a woman. She invites him to a nearby oden stand, only for him to find that its owner has disappeared. "Oh, I ate him," the woman says. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Before I start this review, all things I say are based entirely on OPINION. None of the things I say are FACTS, so please, keep your own opinions inside of yourself. With that in mind, let's start. Kamisama Permanent is a one-shot made by the creator of Deadman Wonderland, and this one-shot... ain't too shabby. The length of it wasn't too long so I didn't expect anything too almighty and great, but... it wasn't actually that bad. It was pretty damn good. Story: 7/10 The guy I forgot/never knew the name of, is a god. He's depressed. That is pretty much it. The synopsis pretty much tells youthe entire story of this one-shot, and that's all there is to it. A god is depressed and a woman wants to "kill?" him. It's been a while since I've read this one-shot so I don't remember all the details. Art: 9/10 The art style is as any other work by this woman would be. It's fantastic, nothing wrong about it, and nothing else to say about it. Character: 8/10 Besides not knowing their names, the characters were pretty well done. I say "Fantastic" to you, who I forgot the name of, a.k.a, creator of this one-shot. Overall: 8/10 Besides being pretty simple and not much to it, and ending in about 20 pages, the manga is actually pretty good. Well, one-shot, I should say. It's pretty good and if you want to entertain yourself for, well, I dunno, 5 minutes, this might be good to read.
