I thought this manga was absolutely wonderful. Though the art was not always consistent, at times (and there were many) the art was really quite spectacular. A tragic romantic tale with bits and pieces of almost every genre in it. Indeed it is mainly a dramatic romance, but it also contained a lot of comedy and inspiring parts. It’s mainly religious, referring to God and faith a lot of the times, but not enough for a person like me who is not religious, to be uncomfortable. Rather, it has deep insight on somebody who has tremendous faith in one’s religion, with the addition ofsome insight on human behavior. The story was really sweet. The plot flowed well unlike many mangas out there where, for some attempt at bettering the plot, out-of-nowhere things are thrown in to the story. Everything was well related and though sometimes it was predictable, it was still a very good story. It kept my attention and entertained me throughout the time I was reading it. I personally found the ending to be extremely superb. It wasn’t a completely shocker that made readers think ‘Where the heck did this come from? This sucks and I’m annoyed now. I’m going to stop reading this manga out of pure hatred for this 180 plot twist.’ Instead, it made me feel somewhat prepared for it as well as making it more touching since the feelings have been accumulating since the beginning of the manga. Generally, this manga was a wonderful read. It was sweet, cute, really nice, and I really enjoyed reading it.
In a European school dorm, Georges Saphir is admired and loved by everyone. However, afraid of others doing him harm, he has never allowed anyone to get close. Why is it then that misfit Robert can effortlessly step over this line Georges has drawn, and see right through him? And will getting too close to Robert result in a tragedy that justifies his worst fears? (Source: DMP)
I have to. I have to write a review for this manga! Story: Aside from Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike, this series is placed on my 2nd rank! The story is absolutely mesmerising, and just different from other romance like shounen-ai manga. Chigusa sensei perfectly gave serious complicated problems for this manga plot, which is just awesome. The internal/mental battle between personality was shown, and could easily grasped. The backstory and moreover the climax though. Oh glob, it was heart wrenching that made me cry a river! Different from Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike, which is a bit more slice of life: bottom, up, up, climax, relax, back to the bottom (probably because it has so many chapters too). This manga plot was like from the bottom, up, up, climax, and BOOM, and there everything is at peace once again. Art: Again, the in several first volumes of the manga is not the best art of Chigusa sensei's art, but it certainly improved as the volume went on. Af first, it was kind of hard for me to differentiate each character profile (design) because they are look almost the same, but as her art improved, I can now definitely tell who is who. Character: Best character development and relationship ever!! What I love from this manga is on how Chigusa sensei set the backstory for the main character. It was a total angsty! and I'm crazy about angst! Enjoyment: If you want to read romance, family, complicated past, warning of abuse, and tons of feels. Then this is the right manga you're searching for. You will not regret it! I'm 120% sure. Overall: My 2nd rank! Additional notes: I love Chigusa Kawaii sensei works, I've been following another work of her: "Alice the 101st". That manga got different character, but somehow the main character from this manga "La Esperanca" was included and got quite often scenes there too. So, you should check it that out too. Different story and style too though, but I believe in Chigusa sensei's works.
