Story 9: - 12 O'clock Bell Ring is an extremely extraordinary story. Lolita-gothic art isn't usually my daily read, I doubt I've read much gothic anyway (Count them on fingers). But what attracted me to this story is the amazing twists in this one-shot. It's a different version of Cinderella, and I might like this one just as much. Except that, this one isn't a role model for kids looking for endless happy ending tales. The characters are TOTALLY different and they are the complete opposite, which makes this story even more interesting. Art 10: - The art is amazingly drawn. I've gotten to mypoint right away. Kishimoto Seishi got fascinating imaginations when it comes to drawing. Heck, I think he's got a great style in everything. Not just the people, the backgrounds, the object, everything is wonderfully drawn. It's really unique, I hope this type of drawing will be a trend soon. Character 9: - Unique. Definitely unique! If you're expecting Cinderella/innocent/baby personalities, be ready to get disappointed. Those characters are more like normal ones. They don't talk oh-so-royal-ish, but, well, in a gothic way. They're especially very attractive and I LOVE what they wear! Their personalities aren't found everywhere. Enjoyment 9: - I won't spoiler you, but the ending was definitely an awesome one! It left me with a gaping mouth which was totally awkward. But plant the fact in your head that you'll never expect the ending you'll see, I've enjoyed it thoroughly and wishes for more. Although that obviously won't happen. Overall 10: - I'd love to see one-shots or mangas like this one. So unique, so twisting, so absorbing. You know? I was glad I came across this one.
After a night of blissful freedom, Cinderella reluctantly returns to a life of mundane servitude. Only yesterday, she was the star of the royal ball—dancing with and captivating the prince. The toll of the clock striking 12 marked the end of that fleeting night and made liberation an impossible dream. But unbeknownst to her, she is being sought after by the kingdom. Will this bring about her salvation, or the exact opposite? In this twisted take on the classic folk tale, Cinderella quickly learns that everything has a cost, and anything that sounds too good to be true almost certainly is. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
A dream never comes for free..This is a great story coming as a little change to the all so popular Cinderella..With some changed characters with a teeny cinderella that acts like a normal human and a prince that doesn't talk all so royalish .. The story has a surprise that will make you jump out of your pants..I never though a one shot would be that great.. It's so recommended for anyone who wants a good plot with some unexpected events :D
This is a really twisted manga. It’s definitely not like the Cinderella story that we grew up with. In fact, I consider it closer to a Grim Fairy Tale more-so then a children’s tale with an ending that can make your skin crawl. It did for me and that is really rare. I do have to give you a slight warning if you really do not like spiders, this may not be the story for you. Other then that, Cinderella was really annoying when she started sounding like a valley girl. The artwork is that of a fairytale, very befitting, and yet the proportionsare all wrong. Some characters are way to big compared to others to make them look at all realistic. Things are rather stiff and it’s got almost a supernatural ‘Halloween’ feel. It was a little like Tim Burton’s movies. There are a lot of angles in the art and characters are rather stretched out. I liked the story and I do say you should see this because it’s interesting. I liked the take on it.
Gothic humor filled with dramatic designs and quirky personalities, plus one awesome twist. This oneshot is a quick read, but it definitely had me smirking by the end of it. Imagine if Cinderella wasn't as sweet or selfless as what we're used to seeing. It wouldn't be the first stab at creating a self-centered version of her, but this was done in such a way that bordered on parody. I loved it. She was an aggravating drama queen in a flowy gothic dress, and the prince... oh boy, the prince.... Without spoiling, all I can say is that it's worth the 5 minute read. The ending especiallymade this something to remember. Now, was it something worthy of a 9 or 10? No, but it's fun, and in my opinion, a 6.5 - 7 would be a fair rating.
It literally is just Cinderella with minor changes. The "comedy" is not very funny, other than the "evil?"ness and the initial dialogue of Cind at ball, also the horses a bit funny. Labeled as both comedy and horror, I was a bit disappointed that there was not a ton of horror (I like horror). There should have at least been the bare minimum of using the OG dark Cinderella foot chop off bird peck out eyes story (one could excuse that as the mangaka not knowing the original storyline, but if I was writing a twist on a story, I would look up the originsof the story and such).
