If you're familiar with Rikako Iketani's work, then you've probably read Bitou Lollipop and you will most certainly know just what to expect from Six Half. It is a moderately long and elaborate manga, very dramatic at times, extremely emotional both in a sense of emotions conveyed by the characters and emotions evoked by the story, and it is not in the least boring. The art is top-notch and the mangaka's style is easily recognizable. Although at the beginning it takes some time getting used to (for example, I saw people commenting on the eyes, but it really is just a matter of taste), theart is undeniably part of the whole psychological experience and it goes well with the story. Plot-wise Six Half is rather well written. The word 'quality' often comes to mind when I think about this manga. It has enormous re-readability value. That is, if you enjoy dramatic slice-of-life stories packed with emotions and complex relationships. Anyway... We have an amnesiac protagonist with a difficult past and a complicated family situation. We follow the protagonist on her journey as she tries to reinvent herself and struggles to find her place in the suddenly unfamiliar surroundings. She is very troubled by the loss of her memories and the things she learns about herself from those around her. Her identity crisis is a major part of the plot, as well as the underlying events that might have contributed to her memory loss. The characters are complex and there is a lot of development, both positive and negative. You are likely to feel love, sympathy, pity, hate, maybe even rage. You might not even like where the story goes and how it ends, but it is a worthwhile read regardless. Six Half has left me with mixed feelings. I did enjoy it quite a lot, but at the same time I did not like some of the emotions I experienced while reading it. But that is normal and certainly not something to be afraid of.
Kikukawa Shiori woke up from a bad motorcycle accident with severe loss of memory. Although she is allowed to go home, she has trouble adjusting to a seemingly new life with a brother who is always worried, a sister who apparently hates her, and a boyfriend who won't give her space. Awful rumors about her previous lifestyle abound in school, too, and even her friends tell her she had it coming. Alone, scared, and angry at the seemingly awful person she used to be, Shiori tries desperately to find a place of comfort she can call her own... Included one-shot: Volume 3: Kare wa Isshoukenmei
Before i read this manga i already feel a really bad thing will happen and it does happen. My honest opinion is i really regret wasting my time to read this manga. This is the first time in my life i have read shoujo manga and the heroine is not end up with the male lead. Tbh, the reason why i read it is because i have read this author previous work and i really really love it. But, this one is just meh. Why i said it is so bad? The answer is no other than the ending which is incest. Before i finished this mangai am considering to give it an 8 or 7, and tbh, it does deserve 7 at least even after that crazy ending. But, my heart just can’t take it to give this manga a 7. So here is my review. The story is so great until that last moment. It tells us a complexity of family and how important feeling is. But, the whole thing about love and other things just make it stupid and too much. The character is also good for me. No one is annoying and i love how they are portrayed. Also until that last moment where everything becomes awful. The art is great for me. I like this type of art because it is unique and not many manga have this kinda art Although i said all that bad stuff i still enkoy reading it because it is fun to read. The ending is the worst ending of all the manga i have ever read. I am just speechless at the ending. I can’t believe all the inecest thing happenned. Incest is the first thing i am so scared of when i first read this manga and it really happening. It even feel worse because it only happen in the last few chapters of the manga. If i had known this would happen i wouldn’t have wasted my time reading this manga in the first place. What i wanna tell you guys is if u don’t like incest and don’t want to waste your time just ignore this manga and don’t be fooled like me. Because it makes u think it is not incest at first, but makes things worst right at the end I still feel so bad and speechless about how it ends. I can’t even accept it now. AAAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
just finished the manga, so many emotions are bubbling up inside me right now i just had to review this ah.. where to even start. i was very much enjoying and invested in this manga, i had given it a 8/10. Had, past tense. now its at a 5.. by that you'll know that this wont be a positive review, but since i really did love this manga until a certain part ill start off with something positive id give the art a 8/10: its good, expresses scene's really well, i dont think i have any sort of problem with the art. the story and characters are bothcomplicated and not, they're handled really well. the characters really do feel real, they dont give up nor forgive so easily. they get angry, they get sad, frustrated at very much valid reasons. they make problems, they hurt others, they try to resolve them, they regret, they grow, they Feel humane. positive things done ! i would've gone on much much more but right now i can only go on about the negative part so .. here it is: the "incest stuff" are pretty uncomfortable. spoiler !! -----they're not actually related but ?? that doesnt change the fact that theyre siblings lmfao, she also lost all of her feelings for kai at the end. why? how? because she remembers that she loved her brother? shit was so rushed at the few last chapters compared to how well paced this manga was before it. really disappointing honestly, i thought i found an underrated gem and i honestly dont know how or what to rate this. it was very much an 8 before that last part. both characters and story. the last part felt like it just threw all of those off. the ending is shit but i cant deny how good this was before that ending, ill just settle with a 5. definitely read the manga if you're curious, im leaving a negative impression on it because i despised the ending, but besides that it was great.
This is a final review, if you haven't finished reading it you shouldn't read this, there's spoilers here for sure. I just finished reading this and it is definitely a great manga. This was such a great emotional rollercoaster! I loved the ups and downs of all the characters, and Shiori and Akio's relationship. It was so well written and though many people ask what was the point of her and Kai being together, I think it's all about the journey itself and very much like real life, you may not end up with the person you'll marry from the moment you meet, there'll be hardships andmaybe other people along the way. I feel that characters were very well developed, specially Shiori, and it is a perfect example of how people's behavior are influenced by emotions, people around and internal factors. Shiori as we can see when she loses her memory and recovers from it, is not a bad person who means to hurt others, but it doesn't mean she hasn't hurt others even if it was sometimes intentional, people learn to live with their mistakes and improve themselves for the better. People are multidimensional and are always changing at times for the better others for the worse. I admit, Shi-chan was very bad with her sister and the way she rebelled upon being rejected by A-chan was upsetting, but I was glad to see her growth and regret over her behavior and words and her continuous intention to be better. I was happy Akio changed though the story too, and the influence others had on him to push him to share what he thought with Shiori. Also, I just need to rant about this, those who don't like it or maybe don't want to read because of their familiar relationship, I have to say, everyone has their own views of right and wrong. The way I see it, if two children even if they grow up in the same house, if they have awareness that they are not related, and are then not conscious of each other as blood-related then it isn't impossible to develop feelings for each other. For example, if two foster children grow up in the same foster home with the same parents for a few years and develop feelings for each other probably no one would consider it incestuous. I think Akio made up for any wrong by living with the guilt of his feelings during all those years and Shi-chan thus was also hurt by it but it did help her grow up. Overall, it was a great manga and I'll miss checking for updates every week. -cries-
