Wasn't exactly looking for an example of shitty manga made to look like some revolutionary masterpiece but boy would this be a good example. KBL is a collection of short, weird and crass in just about every way it could be. How often do you see a gag manga go from exhibitionism to genital mutilation, necrophilia and fetus rape? I'd guess never cause who the hell would write about that and who the hell would willingly read it? To be fair the manga is not TOO edgy despite all this cause it doesn't come off as taking itself seriously at all. It feels more likesome guy got high and just scribbles whatever dumb shit came to his intoxicated head. While I did find this brain coitus funny at times it wasn't exactly a knee slapper. I'm not the audience for this, most people aren't so I think the dominant feeling while reading this will probably be disgust or surprise than laughter. Does this mess warrant a read? I don't know. There's some novelty in fucked up stories. I regularly remember the ridiculous moments of Mai-chan no nichijou with my friends which was similarly fucked up to a high degree. The foreword of the release I've read made it sound like some misunderstood masterpiece and maybe there is context that makes something like this getting printed notable but otherwise I see nothing more than a very weird gag manga that's not terribly funny and is hard to recommend to anyone even as a novel little thing for this medium.
A seminal work of manga from the mid-1980s, Monster Man Bureiko Lullaby is a Candide-esque tale–if you can picture Candide as a mutated sperm brought to life by radioactivity. Unremittingly explicit, this is the comics equivalent of Henry Miller at his best: direct, honest and insightful while simultaneously beautiful and grotesque. (Source: PictureBox)
