I came across Wild Kiss when searching for a BL manga without any angst and sure enough, that is what I got. The story itself isn't very original, a vampire feels a strong attraction to a human and relies on said humans blood in order to stay sane. Looking past the plot, we find Asakawa Tomoki a guy who looks like a sweet bishoujo. He is likable enough, though a little bland. Then we have Yoshida... This is where things start to get a little weird. One day, out of the blue, Yoshida confesses his love to Tomoki and tells him he's a vampire... yeah... Wedon't get to know much about the characters, but seeing as this is a one shot, it's not really that surprising. The other characters aren't important, except for a seemingly psychotic female student. The art itself was very pretty. Clean and easy to follow, this was definitely one of the mangas strong points. Despite its flaws, Wild Kiss is a worth while read. It's lighthearted, gives a few laughs and I would recommend this to anyone searching for a soft shounen-ai comedy.
16-year-old Asakawa Tomoki, being a bishoujo all his life despite being male, has finally received the ultimate confession... from a vampire. The story follows a student named Tomoki Asakawa and a mysterious boy named Chihiro Yoshida. (Source: ANN)
The idea of the traditional vampire is pretty much thrown out the window with this one. In fact, the only thing I see in this is the need for blood. Everything else just seems pushed to the side as a half vampire seems to need blood from only one person. The story is much longer then any of the one shots that I have been reading and so the story feels much more fleshed out. You can really feel the tension between the two until the end which feels really rushed. Just because of one little thing, the story ended up going down a star. Theartwork is pretty much all bishoujo, with beautiful men and women throughout it. Still, the only three that ever seemed fleshed out is the two main characters and Tomokiβs childhood friend who I could never tell if it was a boy or girl. Other then that, we had really no interaction with other characters that would have an actual name (Uncle does not count). I feel they could have made it longer or at least made a sequel to the one shot that would have been really nice. Go ahead and read it though, it is good.
