I was a bit reluctant to start this one, but I'm glad I did - it was FUN. I was worried that it'd be full of meanness disguised as comedy and end up being a crying uke/fufufuing seme caught up in S&M rape, but this manga is far from that (although there are some fufufu moments. Fufufu.). Despite the title there's no real sadism in there and no trace of any S&M, Nagi is just a strict teacher and uses some harsh educational methods - there's a bit of comic violence, but not the bothersome kind that you sometimes find in yaoi. The "super-sadism" actuallydoesn't really play a big role. Neither does the teacher/student relationship - it's only there as setting, really. Talk about a misleading title! In fact, the story is pretty sweet. It's not really out of the ordinary and I guess you can't have a yaoi title (or any manga) without clichés, but it's presented in a fresh and entertaining way and has some ingredients and spice that sets it apart. The characters are both likeable and unique and their relationship develops at a nice pace and actually has some depth. I felt a real connection there, it was even touching at times (and Riku is adorable. Adorable!). The comedy had me laughing hard. There are some pretty silly scenes and some hilarious chibis (I flat out loved the chibi scenes. They were great. Hilarious chibis, I insist!), and it was consistent and not chucked in favour of drama, which I approve of. Neither was it overwhelming to the point that the dramatic aspects became insignificant - all in all it was nicely balanced and well told. I liked the art, it had its own style, was very well drawn and consistently good, and the characters were pretty hot. The smex was a mixture between pragmatically realistic (full man-parts, everyone) and decently hot, thankfully without being fantastically sticky and sweaty. Nothing to write home about, I guess, but then I like the emotional aspects of yaoi better, anyway (call me strange if you want). Overall I was pleasantly surprised and intend to read this again some day, and if you're looking for an above average, feel good yaoi with a bit of fluff and a lot of humour, by all means go for it.
When Tanami Riku's father died in a traffic accident, he was left all alone. Then suddenly a guy named Onikubo Nagi came and demanded to be his guardian in place of his father, who was actually Nagi's former teacher. Then he applied as Riku's homeroom teacher! He pushed himself into Riku's life without even asking for permission. Living with the Super Sadistic Teacher was unbelievably harsh. What exactly did Nagi want with Riku? I'm surprised this manga isn't that popular! It does fit in a category of forbidden love, however the sadistic (yet hilarious) teacher doesn't hold back with his, which makes the story really interesting. I've read it more than once and it still had me snickering. I mean seriously, how often is a comedy yaoi? However, this is explicit and most likely rated mature for certain reasons... There are really inappropriate and probably uncomfortable jokes for some readers. I loved it all really, but it's just my opinion. I find this to be the most hilarious manga I've ever read. This is perfect for yaoi fangirlsthat don't mind er.... the explicit things. I'm not a huge fan, but I loved this manga! If they extended it, I'd keep reading. The characters are nicely drawn. I like its style. I understand the whole story completely. I like how it symbolizes the term S&M without getting too creepy. The length of it is just right and it doesn't drag on and on with those cursed back flashes. I gurantee it will make whoever reads the whole thing at least smile.
This is one of THE most adorable yaoi I have ever read. That says A LOT. It's not nearly as taboo as it sounds, it doesn't focus on the teacher/student thing which I normally definitely stay away from, but decided to try this anyway. The teacher is adorable, makes me want to hug him and as for the student... So loving and dedicated!! When he cries it'll just make you freak out in the best way. (fujoshis can relate) The art is magnificent, I love the different styles used for different expressions and actions, cute cartoony one, kid-looking one,and super cute adult looking one. Also, the age gap between Nagi (teacher) and Riku (student) is not even visibly noticeable. And of course, very very sexy and smutty when it needs to be. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Oni Ni Hatsujou! 10/10. I want there to be a huge fandom for it like with Love Stage, because I feel like this really could go super far if it was more acknowledged!
