Kaiyuu no Mori

A brief review, fitting for a brief work, just to make sure there’s one here because it truly deserves it. It’s rare these days to come across something that captures and holds my attention like this one managed to do. 7 short standalone stories in 7 chapters about 7 unconventional loves that, for various reasons, didn’t work out. What they all have in common is that they tried, and either they ended or they never even properly began. The couples didn’t make a big drama out of it, everyone simply moved on living their lives. That’s it, just like that. No unnecessary melodrama, no hysteria, noartificiality, just a simple acknowledgment of the fact that it didn’t work out. Bittersweet and weird, but in just the right measure. Simply beautiful, just like it's artsytle. A hidden gem drowned by the sea of mediocricity. **** Content warning: If you are sensitve to Pedophilia than skip the first chapter (The chapters are self-contained anyway). Not that anything truely questionable has happened. Heck, in any other context this chapter would been considered sweet and caring, but you know... Anyway, as someone who does not get triggered easily, I found this take on the topic quite unique.
