In comparison to other animes I had watched at the time, I felt that Sankrea was left too open ended for acceptance. In response to my unsatisfied conscience, I started to read the manga. I expected the main plot to have many events scattered all over the manga in a jumbled order to give humor. In contrast, the manga was extraordinarily intriguing for the plot was well planned out as well as hit my emotions in both positive and negative standpoints. I reread the manga in random chapters, as well as retelling the story to intrigue other friends and family of mine. A master pieceof a manga, for the story was enough for me to love the characters and art.
Chihiro Furuya possesses a strange obsession for the undead. Most remarkably, he is only romantically interested in female zombies. Due to the recent accidental death of his pet cat Baabu, Chihiro's craze is accentuated, and he decides to brew an elixir of reanimation. However, Chihiro fails to find the correct combination of ingredients to produce the solution, causing him to give up and opt to bury Baabu instead. But before he can, Chihiro becomes acquainted with the wealthy and alluring Rea Sanka, who encourages him to continue trying. And so, upon mixing the poisonous hydrangea flower with his concoction, Chihiro successfully creates the elixir. Not realizing that he succeeded, Rea attempts to put an end to her miserable and restrained life by drinking the elixir she thought would poison her. But after actually dying in a fatal accident, the elixir shows its effect, and Rea is resurrected as a zombie. Now liberated from her oppressive life, Rea moves in with Chihiro, who will now have to utilize his knowledge of the undead to care for the adolescent female zombie. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Sankarea: Undying Love Sankarea: Undying Love , literally undying love because it is a love between a human and a zombie. I first watch the anime and due to my interest on what will happen next i thoroughly read the manga only to be in love with this again. This anime is unique because you can feel the heartwarming love between our two protagonist even though the theme or scene is somewhat dark. Story: The story is told in an interesting way. You could literally feel the love every chapter. Also the darkness theme that is slowly oozing out little by little .Killing and making Rea azombie on the first part of the manga. I am pretty much shock because Rea is an adorable girl and it is unforgivable... clearly unforgivable. But later i found out that it's a part of the big picture , making me completely hook up in their world. Art: I could easily give an 11 rating for Rea alone , but other characters is a bit bland. Even the art of drawing Furuya is a bit bland , considering that he is a main character. But the drawing of the setting/background is nice. It easily add to the pent up suspense on my heart whenever i read it. Character: You can easily relate yourself with the character. They don't have a weird or complex behavior that can make yo say "Why have you done that?" The decision and the personality of the character is what you can see on a typical people with the same attitude. Enjoyment: i personally enjoy the show. It's like I'm reading a first class romance story with a bonus of gore/horror. Rest assusred that it complement each other giving you a nice story. So that's it. Hoping you like my review. For violent reaction or suggestion just message me. I won't bite people.
I mean, what the heck is happening to this world... It looks like they are doing it on purpose. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW TO THE VERY END BEFORE ANYTHING. I watched the anime like... 4 years ago and I just loved everything, the desing, the characters, the music, but it just covered 2 volumes of the mangas and there was no signs of a 2nd season so, a few days ago I found out that the manga was finished so I read it and wow... Sankarea was a great manga, I fell in love with all the characters inmediatly, Babu, Rea, Darin, Chihiro, Professor Boil, it's imposiblenot love them. The story, the farewells, the interesting trama, it's was captivating, a misterious background, the romance, the horror, it is a great combination. But... Why, why ended like that, it's so hard for me to be captivated by a manga like this and this is what I get? A closure so dissapointing that it makes me feel like it was not worth at all. I mean, what the ---- was that? I'm suposed to feel happy? sad? angry? If I had to choose it would be the last one. I waited 4 long years for find out how this story ended, but now... with this... I feel nothing, emptyness... (I know that the manga was finished 3 years ago but I'm just entering to the world of "read mangas") I cannot recomend this manga after this but please, if you are going to read it, be aware that you will experience a ending so unsatisfactory that you will not have words to describe it.
Sankarea is a mysterious zombie romance that sounds kind of diffrent and funny, i first watched the anime back there in 2012, and i remember that i really loved it, so why not read the manga and know the end of the story? My frist reaction was that it was going to be a light love story just like the anime... but the anime just covered 2 volumes of the manga, so thats almost nothing of the story, later on the volume 4 it got a bit more darkness than the expected, and in fact that the anime had a focus on the romance of theprotagonists and not on the horror love story i got a little bit surprised with the progress of it, but after the volume 7 the story got into a diffrent way and a little bit confusing, unnecessary situations that affected the hole story and in the end it was corny, the character development was somewhat interesting but after all... cliche, and also poorly explained The background horror zombie story was interesting and good, but since the volume 1 the fanservice and ecchi scenes was killing slowly the magic of it, and even the own autor said on the specials that what was keeping the manga alive was the ecchi/fanservice, that in case was 13 years old girls naked, but the back story was good at all... but i have to confess that i got disappointed but not surprised.
I have failed. So many people have departed from this story with results that they love. I have not. I have randomly found this manga, while having had aimed to find something completely random and new to indulge myself with! Something I'll have no idea about so that it can be a totally genuine experience. And Sankarea was just that. I love the way the manga's covers look(that's what ai based my choice on. I've started reading this, and almost every single thing, every page, I had known what would come in the next.Everything was so predictable to me. While reading, I have stopped numerous times simply to laugh a bit at how what I was looking at was something I had expected to happen. It wasn't laugh really, it was just averting my attention from the pages to the wall of my room with a big grin. The story is cute, Rea is beautiful in every possible way, but I'm unfortunately blind to truly enjoying the beauty of her and everything else in this story. I think nothing bad of this story, I have simply failed at enjoying it, and the proof for that is the simple fact that so many others have fully enjoyed the experience of going through this story. To me it was just a cliche after a cliche. When I think about it, I think that the reason that this is the outcome I'm left with after the story, is the way that characters are. Overuse of blushing. Blushes are nice and all, but in this story, everyone are blushing all the time, not my cup of tea. The characters are what was the most cliche thing, to me. I am upset that I've not fully grown to love this story. I do love it, it's beautiful, and as I say that, I know that that's just something I wish would be the full truth regarding it and me. Spoiler about the conclusion of the story bellow: I did however, after finishing the story, wake up during the night, and in the morning, without being able to proceed with my sleep, duo to what this story ends up as. Rea, that angel of a person, ending up all alone. All alone. It's scary, how this story ends. That suffocating feeling of loneliness that is not even yours (how I feel when I think about the end of the story). If I had gone through this story long before, that ending would've kept me awake so many nights, I'd cry. The ridiculous thing though, and further making apparent how the author is either immature or the manga is aimed at very young folk, is how that ending without a hint on grimness presented in the manga. With that ending, in that manga all is still happy and everyone(Rea alone) are still smiling.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclussion: If this was "packaged" somehow differently, perhaps it would've been just my thing, but this way it was barely anything. I know though, that if this was my first manga ever, if I had read this back when I was still a kid, I'd have probably fallen in love with everything about this story. Everything. Perhaps the problem is that I'm "too-grown-up" and thus this story is just too perfect for me..
