An interesting manga about the meaning of beauty as depicted in the art of various masters throughout time. Viewed through the lens of a young Raphael Sanzio as he struggles to ascertain for himself the secrets behind what dictates "True everlasting beauty" in the future. The art is as you would expect from such a story, with emphasis placed on characters and scenes relevant to various master painters. The famous painting that show up in the story themselves felt rather off, an attempt was made to translate them faithfully but I think it falls flat. That isn't to say this isn't a masterwork in spiteof such a fact. With a lovable naïve main character and a plot that twists in a more wild direction than I could have expected, it kept me entertained throughout. although it feels slightly rushed towards the end. It is a work about art, paintings in particular, and the people that pour themselves into their work. What they leave behind when they die, and how we as the audience can decide for ourselves what true beauty is.
