Well, I really didn't have the intention of reading this. Just happened that I was passing by a local comic store and they were selling the three volumes with discount so I said: "Why not?" I was very surprised when I realized this work was done by the same author of Ikkitousen, which brings me to first important point about this manga, the art is beautiful. As you can expect from a man used to drawing the bodies of beautiful ladies, Godeath is no exception. If you only want to look at beautiful art, this is the manga for you. About the characters, pretty much 90% ofthe cast are women. The good thing is that they all have different personalities. There's the shy one that enters into beast mode while fighting, the cute aggressive loli that changes her personality as the story progresses, and of course, there's the hot tomboy. All of them give the story a little bit more of appeal. Now, talking about the plot itself, there's not really much to tell. It's a battle between Masons and the Vatican. The MC gets involved in the war because of personal reasons and she gathers friends during her journey, while fighting against a main antagonist. The problem with Godeath is that you feel everything happens way too fast and obviously, that won't let you have some proper character development. Maybe if the story had at least three more volumes, it could've been better. My conclusion: Read it for the art, don't read it for the plot.
It's the 18th century in Naples, Italy. There is a girl named Maria living peacefully in the city, but she is more than she appears. She is like a goddess of death, with a sword that cuts through everything. But what exactly is she? Where has she come from and what cruel destiny awaits her?
Let me start by saying I don't mind ecchi in manga. However, when you start getting a reminder that it was tagged as ecchi every 2 frames it starts getting a little annoying. That was what happened to me with Godeath. I thought that the story was amazing and the characters were awesome, but the ammount of unnesesary boob and ass frames was bothering me like you can't imagine. As for the characters, I'm a sucker for strong female characters, and this manga is all about Maria being a badass and killing people and having great battles and kicking buts, so you can probably guess whatI thought about that. Also, the supporting characters were pretty cool. We have Mika, who is also a badass and also has a kinda sad backstory, and we also have D'eon, who is pretty much the comic-relief character. Although I didn't love these two characters, they didn't bother me too much, either. Story wise, it was entertaining and if you are into vampire or demon stories, you should definitely check this out. Yes, I would recomend this manga to people who don't mind or like reading ecchi because the action scenes were awesome and I really liked the story, but I think it would've been a lot better if there weren't as many boob and ass frames in it.
