An extremely good manga that delves into roman politics and slave boxing which i found very intresting, The story revolves around a slave boxer who is tryng to be free. Story- 7 This manga is like baki meets roman drama. The story is okay, I do like how the author delved into the Emperor and that bad shit that he does. Art- 8 Fight scenes are fun as hell there is very little dialague and they are very well choreographed and the art progresses well. Characters- 6 Characters are okay mc starts off like a scared little bitch then at the end he's just a slightly stronger Scared bitch. Meanwhileside characters are made alot better with more craft and detail. including his trainer, in the story there are sum underlying themes that come alive with the side characters. The rival of cestvs is written better and i wouldnt have minded if he was the main character. Enjoyment- 9 All that aside this was a fairly enjoyable story with well drawn fights. --- There is also an arc at the end which revolves around the the "Rival" of the story, and to be honest that arc was a hell of alot better than some of mc's arcs.
Cestus, a young slave, fighting for his freedom as a bare knuckle gladiator studying under a legendary gladiator who fought and drawed with the head of the imperial guards in the Roman era.
Kentou Ankokuden Cestvs...To quote a man that was about to pick up a cupcake "I mean It's alright like, overrated as fuck in my opinion." Story 5/10: The story seemed interesting since I heard it's the Roman version of Baki. I can kinda see where people make the correlation, but it's not nearly as interesting as or exciting as Baki. We follow a boy named Cestvs who's a slave boxer during the rise of the Roman Empire and all he wants is to be free. He has a master he runs around with named Zafar, Zafar is also like a bit of a father figure toCestvs. Art 6/10: I like the art, but I'll admit it can be boring in some panels. It's similar to Kentaro Miura's style since he and the creator of Cestvs, Shizuya Wazarai, were friends. Characters 4/10: I'll say this...these are very boring characters. Cestvs is just an okay MC, he fights and trains, that's it, he's just a watered-down version of Ippo. Zafar is sorta like a watered-down version of Cheif Kamogawa, Roxane is hot but boring, and Nero having a mental breakdown and becoming more of an ass is cool but not enough. The only too characters I liked a bit were Ruska and Demitorious, the father and son. This is where the Baki correlation comes, I mostly prefer Demitorious because he's like a mix of Roah and Yujiro. Enjoyment 5/10: I was hyped in the first few chapters, but after that I was bored. Too much drama for a martial arts/action manga, even with the fights happening they were way too short and unentertaining. There should've been more blood in it too. Cestvs could have been so much better, but it is what it is. If you love Roman history, I'd say give Cestvs a shot. If you expect this to be like Baki, you'll be disappointed. If you need more manga like Baki then check out the Tough series. Iron Kiba solos the Cestvs verse lmao. For Fans Of Roman history, Caligula, and Hajime No Ippo
