Toraware no Minoue is basically a romance between the main characters who have a master-servant relationship, however the servant has a curse that makes him have an extreme impulse to do whatever his master tells him to, so that complicates the relationship. Story: I must admit that the master-servant relationship is seen quite often, so I can't say it's completely original, however it does have a good amount of comedy inside. Sometimes, there are also some serious romance and tragedy parts, but the mangaka has done it quite well, in my opinion, to not make it all too overwhelming. Art: I like the mangaka's styleof art very much both the detailed and simple face sketches which she draws. Characters: The characters are actually quite common. The master, Suzuka is the a very simple character being quite independent, kind-hearted, thoughtful of others and quite simple, but bearing some tragic events before in her childhood. However, the tragedies are not concentrated too much on. Megumi, the servant character, can be described as a good and reliable person. He is also a character who would do [almost] (I'm not sure...) anything for the one he loves -- Suzuka. Through all the adventures they go through together, they realize their love for each other in the long awaited search for the cure for the curse. It was quite a cliche story in a way because of the quite simple storyline, but it is a very enjoyable shoujo. Recommended to those who want a simple romance comedy with the romance going at a steady pace and not too deep a storyline. (P.S. I don't know why anyone hasn't reviewed this yet... But, I'm happy to be the first to give a review for it and a recommendation for it.)
Megumi is a descendant of Kuronekomaru, a famous thief who stole an heirloom from a samurai’s mansion. When he opened the scroll, the family’s guardian dragon appeared and cursed Kuronekomaru and his descendants: his family is destined to serve Kougami’s family for one hundred generations. Megumi is living the high life, since the last of the Kougamis vanished two years ago. However, when Suzuka—the current generation of the Kougamis—returns home, Megumi has built up no resistance to the curse, so he is forced to serve her with a slave-like obedience. (Source: ANN) Included one-shots: Volume 1: Real no Arashi (Real Storm), Jikan wo Kourasete (Let the Time Freeze) Volume 3: Pere Noel no Nagai Yoru (The Long Night of Pere Noel) Volume 5: Kiss no Hontou no Imi wo Oshiete (Tell Me the Real Meaning of That Kiss)
This is a rather silly (a fun kind of silly) master/servant romance story. It's not meant to be taken seriously, it's just a quick, fun and rather light hearted read. Fourteen years ago, the wealthy Kogami family traveled to China when they vanished. Since the Kogamis were thought to be dead their mansion was left to their head butler and his son Megumi. Megumi is enjoying the easy life when one day it is discouvered that the Kogamis daughter, Suzaka has survived and will be returning to Japan. Megumi is determined to not take up the position as a Kogami butler that was originally plannedout for him. However upon Suzakas return, Megumi learns that his family line has been cursed to obediently serve the Kogami family. Suzaka starts to fall in love with Megumi and becomes determined to break his curse so she can find out if the feelings that Megumi seems to have for her are his own or a result of servants curse.
