This is the story of a mediocre fantasy web novelist who encountered a magical cat and the relics of a forgotten writer. Interesting premise, since those relics helped the mediocre writer polish skills that helped his refine his writing techniques, leading to better work and an advancing social position. The cat, too, helped soothe his soul. This was an interesting series to follow serially, because as the main character leveled up his writing, he gets access to improved opportunities in the publishing industry. The readers get to see a side of the industry which it would rather keep secret; how politics, fame, and familyties add several layers of complexity to it. There are several twists in the story, but I find it charming that no matter how successful the author has become, he keeps the humility he earned while he was struggling as an up-and-coming writer. Especially when he outgrew the magical writer tools, and that was no Faustian bargain with the cat. He fostered the cat with his own free will and helped resolve the lingering regrets of the original owner of the cat and the tools. Overall, a delightful story to follow serially, or binge, since this story is now completed. However, I found the ending to have less the βoomphβ I expected it to have. Still, I have no regrets sticking to the story until the end.
