This was my first action manhwa, as someone who only reads romance...It was a beautiful experience!! The art is majestic!! the character design is really good! the story is pretty straight foward with the title.... for some people it could lack depth, but it honestly has a lot of information that you wouldn't consider useless for the plot, it has pretty good balance of comedy, serious moments, and of course that little bit of romance that is really cute .... the plot of the story can be a bit confusing in some parts, but it does a good job at explaining and if you have an understandingof resources abuse you probably won't have hard time in trying to understand the political aspect of the plot . Anyway, i recommend if you are looking for something with more action and some cute moments, definetely worth to give it a try! Seo Jihan is currently on the number 1 spot as my favorite male character in all aspects!!!
Moa Son, an ordinary office worker, wakes up in a dungeon in the middle of the night and awakens as a collecting hunter. After barely making it out alive, she falls into the same dungeon but gets rescued by the first-ranked hunter, Jihan Seo, and becomes bound up with him. Now he's offering to make her strong on this one condition—"Promise me you will do your best to kill the bosses of all the dungeons that exist in the world." Come again? “I Stole the First Ranker’s Soul” manages to strike a solid balance between action, slice-of-life, and romance. It is an idealistic story at times and tends toward a black-and-white view of morality, but this does not diminish its strengths. The fact that the protagonist is a well-written female lead makes the series stand out even more in a genre often dominated by repetitive tropes. While not flawless, it offers a refreshing and highly enjoyable read for anyone looking for action-fantasy with a genuinely good romance. Story – 8/10 The story is simple but effective. What I found particularly refreshing is the way it portrays humanity as stilladapting to the dungeon system rather than being fully accustomed to it. The plot follows familiar genre codes but avoids feeling like a copy-paste of other works. The pacing is logical, easy to follow, and it maintains a good balance between tension and lighter, slice-of-life elements. While it’s not the most epic story ever written, it is engaging and keeps the reader invested from start to finish. Characters – 8/10 This is a bit of a mixed bag. The two main protagonists are very well developed emotionally, and their growth feels natural and consistent throughout the work. However, some side characters could have benefited from more background and depth, which limits the overall richness of the cast. The antagonists also lean towards being overly simplistic at times, with a rather clear-cut “good vs evil” dynamic that doesn’t leave much room for moral nuance. This doesn’t ruin the experience, but it does prevent the series from reaching a higher level of complexity. Despite that, the cast still manages to offer a good variety of personalities, and the heroine in particular stands out as a highlight. Her progression is written in a believable way, which makes following her journey all the more enjoyable. Romance – 9/10 One of the strongest aspects of this manhwa. The romance is given just the right amount of focus: it develops naturally, feels logical, and even provides some genuinely funny and heartwarming moments. There is no unnecessary harem dynamic, no frustrating detours, just a straightforward, well-handled relationship that complements the main narrative without overshadowing it. Art – 8/10 The art style may appear fairly standard at first, but it is used more effectively than in many similar works. Over the course of the series, the artwork noticeably improves, giving more impact to both action and emotional scenes.
I’d give this a 6–7 out of 10. It had a lot of “manic pixie dream guy” energy, drifting into simp territory, like the female version of those classic, overly OP male power fantasies. The plot was very predictable and could have been easily improved, but I still sort of liked it for what it was, fictional junk food. Realistically, if you can find something else to read or you do not have much free time, you should skip this and read or do something else. Padding the Review Beyond This Point Because MAL Said It Wasn’t Long Enough: - You’ll probably enjoy this manhwa if youhaven’t read much manhwa or manga before. - The characters are fairly generic, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a drawback for this kind of story. - The art style seemed quite good to me, though I’m not an expert when it comes to art whatnot. - Some of the interactions with the world’s politicians felt a bit pointless, given how overwhelmingly powerful the MC had become by that stage.
