Story: 6/10 The story wasn't really anything special, as you can find many other manhwa with the same theme of a fantasy romance, a fake relationship contract, the lead coming from another world, all of the above, etc. Throughout the story, the pacing was mostly good until I got to the last 20-ish chapters. It felt as if it was just a little bit rushed because the events were just being thrown around. A lot of the occurrences that were in favor of the leads were obviously plot armor, and some of them also just genuinely didn't make sense. I also would really like to knowhow the FL's original world was handling her absence, but I don't recall ever reading anything about that... However, despite the previous things that I disliked, I really enjoyed the slow burn-ish romance and how they grew to realize their feelings for each other. Characters: 5/10 Same with the story, the characters weren't really anything special, either, and the same kinds of characters can be found in many other manhwas. There wasn't anything intriguing about how they were written. However, I like how the author incorporated the FL's identity in Korea into her identity in Iklein. Seeing the character she became with the help of her other self was interesting. Art: 8/10 I have nothing critical to say about the artwork. Majority of the chapters consisted of beautiful drawings, and I enjoyed the cartoonish drawings here and there, too. You can really tell how much work the artist put into their artwork. Enjoyment: 8/10 While there were multiple moments of confusion or questioning the actuality/logic of some events, I never felt bored reading this manhwa. I enjoyed the romance and suspense. The author also did a good job of incorporating comedy into the story pretty often, even in the middle of a moment that you think would be serious. Others might not like this, but I enjoyed this, too. Overall: 7/10 In summary, Charming the Duke of the North was nothing entirely special. The plot and theme was very common, nothing stood out about the writing, and the plot armor was way too obvious for me. However, despite all of this, I still genuinely enjoyed this manhwa. The art was beautiful, the slow burn was good, the drama and suspense kept me on my seat, and I laughed multiple times while reading. Mathematically speaking, this manhwa would be rated a 6.75/10, so I'm going to round it up and rate it 7/10. * I'm very easily pleased. If you're a more critical reader, you'll probably enjoy this less than I did and rate it lower.
"Pretend to be my lover and join the social circle." Selena, the top star that had the entire world's attention, was suddenly warped to Northern Duke's land during an accident while filming. Kalcion, the Northern Duke that saved her from the infernal beasts, offers Selena a chance to go back home in return for collecting information in various social circles by pretending to be his lover. Selena quickly accepts Kalcion's offer, but... "Why in the world can't you do this!?" "Don't you think that the answer to that should be obvious to you, the actress, not to me, the duke?" There was a critical problem. The Northern Duke's acting skills are horrible! "...Let's change the plan. I'll seduce you instead." And thus the contractual relationship between the two started. Will Kalcion's acting skill improve first, or will he start to have true feelings for Selena instead? (Source: Before Sunset, translated)
