Now this manhwa right here is the literally embodiment of the word "Badass". The story just gets your blood pumping with all the insane action sequences. Story-10 A revenge story slowly starts becoming bigger and better as time goes on. Also the creators plan on introducing more Individuals with special powers in different manhwas and then interconnect those stories, (probably like Ylab has already done with their own universe) Rooftop Sword Master is just the first installment in the series, we have a long way to go. Art-10 The creators of Boss in school were responsible for this manhwa, expect some top notch art. Character-10 I mean if the maincharacter is literally the Hulk with a massive Guts-like sword with Mjolnir like powers, you know that you have stumbled upon a gem. Enjoyment-10 Thoroughly enjoyed it, although some people werent happy that around chapter 40, we discover MC wasnt only the one with special powers, but imo it helped a lot in World-building. Overall-10 Give it a go, you surely wouldnt regret it, a short and good read.
After being beat up and put into a coma by eight of his classmates at Nungwang Middle School, Seyoung woke up after nine long months and found out that his father committed suicide by self-immolation in an attempt to get justice for what happened to him. As a result, the investigation re-opened and that attackers who tried to sweep it under the rug received a proper sentence for their crimes. But Seyoung was unable to assuage the anger and fear he felt for the unjust world. Seyoung thoroughly hid himself from this sort of world. The sun would rise and set, the seasons changed, and not once did he step outside of his home. But one day, a sudden and strange sound enticed him to open the door... Embedded in the center of the rooftop was a gigantic blade emblazoned with the words "War Sword" and with it, came the whispers of a God. (Source: Kakao Entertainment Corp., translated)
"Homelander with a sword" I mean, Rooftop Swordmaster is not a hero story, and itâs not meant to be one. Itâs the portrait of a bullying victim, by cartoon standards, whose entire world is destroyed by people with money, power, and immunity. What is his is lost not to tragedy, but to the bullies amusement, while the system shrugs at everything that happens to him. When he is later granted overwhelming power, the story doesnât pivot into justice, redemption, or catharsis. It pivots into his obsession with justice. The sword falling from the sky is a metaphor for dad leaving the gun safe unlocked. The quote âPower doesnâtcorrupt, it revealsâ screams throughout this series. The sword doesnât make him happy, and power doesnât heal him. Help, sympathy, and other peopleâs ideas of justice actively disgust him and become meaningless. What follows is not growth, but the deterioration of a man carrying out his own definition of justice, simply because he now has the tool to enforce it. Is it cringe? Very much so. But realistically, most people in the same headspace would react the same: âFuck the world, fuck this, fuck that, why me?â The loop of desperation, depression, and the twisting idea of justice makes this story not just brutal. itâs realistic. What makes the series effective is its refusal to moralize or comfort the reader. It doesnât ask you to cheer, and it doesnât ask you to condemn. It simply shows what happens when someone broken is handed godlike power in a world that already failed him. The result isnât righteousness, itâs madness. This isnât a power fantasy. Itâs a bleak character study about rage, entitlement, and the dangerous simplicity of âmy justice.â If you go in expecting fights, progression, or payoff, youâll miss the point entirely. But if youâre willing to sit with something uncomfortable and unresolved, itâs unforgettable.
