Rinko and Her Kept Man

TL:DR A surprisingly complex little story about a little girl (re)finding a family, along with the people who grow with her Story: 7/10 I came into the manga expecting a simple story of a little girl finding a father figure but it went in a surprisingly different direction. The kid, Rinko, is on more of an equal position to the guy, Haruno. While he's superficially kind, he learns to truly care while being with the kid and learns what's happening with her family. Rinko in exchange gets to feel what a family is like. It's quite heart warming and more emotionally complex than I first expected. It covers abuseand the ways it affects people in a mature way while not shying away from how the abused can perpetuate the cycle - or break it. The plot of the manga is primarily about the twin mysteries regarding Rinko's mother and the Haruno's past, it's revealed bit by bit and kept me invested in the manga. Characters: 7/10 The characters are the main draw, it's a short manga so they are not super complex but there each character gets their time in the spotlight and contributes to the emotional lesson the manga is showcasing while still seeming mostly like realistic people (with varying degrees of exaggeration). Art The art is pretty good, the character designs are cute and distinctive with good backgrounds. The art also complements the emotional parts of the manga. Overall: 7/10 A pretty good, emotional drama with a good lesson to learn, and something to say about familial trauma. I recommend this manga.
