If there's anything remarkable about A Tyrant's First Love, it's that I never actually witnessed a plot plummet so low that I'm pretty sure regardless of whatever story I read next, would not be as bad as this one. This was the worst thus far. A Tyrant's First Love initially came off strong, which surprised me because I came into the manhwa reading a LOT of negative reviews about it. The art style was very different from the clean cut aesthetics most of the manhwas I read have but it has its charm. The chapters were a tad bit short which was confusing but Ididn't really mind and threaded the chapters on wondering why it has a bit of a low score. Unfortunately, it didn't exactly took too long to figure out why. The first ten chapters showcase what seems to be an interesting set of characters and the story seems promising but as the chapters go by, no development from either were shown. Instead, it seems like both characters and plot were regressing— and by the 20TH chapter, I realized I was either going to come out of this manhwa livid with hatred or pleasantly surprised by the story. I really wish it was the latter. Alas, the manhwa gods hate me and as the author continue throwing and hurling plot points that doesn't make sense to the point that the story is no longer recognizable, I wonder if truck-kun could just appear in my bedroom and isekai me from away from this story. A tad bit dramatic I suppose but this just wasn't it, and unlike the times I say that this manhwa is probably just not for me, I'm pretty confident I'm not at fault this time.
From the moment she woke up in a foreign land with no memories of her past, Dia knew she was fated for misery. Taken in by a baron but beaten and abused for four long years, her only friend was the eldest son of House Knolls. Everything changed when the sadistic Emperor Caire, notorious for having a macabre hobby, barged into the mansion and gazed deeply into Dia's eyes. Soon she is whisked away to his opulent castle, where gothic nightmare of blood and lust unfolds. Could the bloodthirsty emperor hold the key to unlocking Dia's past? (Source: Tappytoon)
I strongly advise against this manhwa. The beginning is good and interesting...but as soon as the flashback part starts...I advise you to abandon the reading. Negative aspects: - Characters that leave you with nothing - Endless nonsense - Time jumps inserted to speed up the story and finish it sooner - Inconclusive story that tries to be particular but fails to do so Positive aspects:- The graphic style Honestly appealing only to the graphic style in a story that is supposed to convey emotions means that there is a big underlying problem. I am sorry but it does not deserve such a high grade.
