Really ended up liking the characters, and the Art grew on me. I enjoyed the conversations and the chemistry the main characters had. Unlike many of these stories the FL and ML actually talk and have banter/chemistry. But man oh man were the miscommunications a headache in this one. If you are sensitive to characters misunderstanding each other and not communicating, you will be pulling your hair out the whole story. My score just kept dropping the more I read. I can definitely understand why someone would rate this 7 or 8 out of 10 but if you are like me and can't stand constantmiscommunications driving the plot you will want to skip this one.
The spunky Lady Dillion didn't realize she was the villain of a romance novel until she encounters Marquess Cedric. Seeing him jogs a dormant memory of the novel's plot, in which her beloved younger sister dies in childbirth after marrying Cedric. Determined to prevent this, Dillion marries him herself, but what fate awaits her when she knows he's meant to fall in love with the real female lead later? In this marriage of convenience, it seems nothing turns out quite how either of them expects... (Source: Tapas Media)
Pros - Dillion (Female lead) is an interesting and memorable character. it's incredibly exciting to see how she grows throughout the story. - watching Dillon and Cedric learn to work through their differences in a very real and deep way is incredibly rewarding - the side characters are also very interesting and varied in personality and it's fun to see how Dillion wins them over and/or puts her foot down Cons - Cedric, the male lead is kind, gentlemanly, stoic and bold but he isn't all that memorable. - the ending wasn't all that memorable - the story dragged on a bit too long about dillion being concerned over taking the originalnovels characters place. It didn't really serve as an exciting climax/resolution. Overall I love this story, mainly because of my girl Dillion and the real relationship and communication issues the two of them work out, dillion is a memorable and exciting character who has very real and interesting struggles that women like me go through but she learns to work with her personality instead of against it and rise to not only be a good wife but surpass the expectations of everyone around her in real, tangible ways.
Good: - The characters (both main and side ones) are some of the best in the OI genre. They are unique, memorable and hilarious. - romance + comedy + slice-of-life are the primary genres. Lots of wholesome and positive vibes. Most of the series is actually just characters meeting and chatting. - gorgeous and cute art. Most of the female character designs are just insanely pretty. While ML's design is a bit bland, his variety of expressions are refreshing (compared to all the stoic male leads that we often see in OI). Bad: - There's barely 5 chapters worth of "plot" and even that is kind of amess (especially the final twist). Just completely forget the plot and enjoy the character interactions for a better reading experience. - There's a good bit of angst, entirely arising out of [many] misunderstandings. There's also the annoying trope of FL saying "I must not interfere with OG plot and let ML fall in love with OGFL", which serves no purpose but to block the progress of romance. Overall Read for characters + comedy + romance + art. Ignore any angst or plot stuff that usually ruins the vibe. It's an entertaining series, but do not expect anything deep or a masterpiece.
