I 100â recommend if you want to read a good romance with a strong FL ! đȘđȘđȘ I normally give romance villainess manhwa a 9 or a 8 but let me tell you, this one blew my mind ! Without a doubt Beware Of The Villainess gets a 10/10 from me ! đ€© The MC/FL is extremely funny and I truly could not hold back my giggles and smiles for every single chapter ! đč Melissa is a strong FL who is not afraid of speaking up and changing the story. đŁïž I feel like this manhwa addresses the very odd norm of the sh1tty OG MLs getting awaywith the most horrendous stuff you've ever heard of and getting away because they're "hot". đ« I read 26 ch of this manhwa and decided to wait for the the end of the story so I can binge read it and I am not disappointed. đ The art style is mesmerising and the plot is amazing too ! âš I got super invested in the story and lovable side characters (including the adorable side couple). đ€ The side characters have depth and personality instead of just existing to fill space. đ Hats off to the author and artist. 𫥠Again, If you want a funny and intersting manhwa, this one is one that I will recommend from the bottom of my heart. đ«
Unlike most villainesses, Melissa Foddebrat is not destined for the gallows or a life of misery. She is a beautiful but sharp-tongued young woman whose childish attitude is merely an annoyance to those around her. However, for a modern Korean woman who has been reincarnated in Melissa's body, none of that matters. She is inside the world of a novel she once read, reliving the life of a wealthy duke's daughter. Melissa rejects the idea of continuing down the path of villainy. Instead, she strives toward a life of leisure, and to achieve this, she must first end her engagement with the womanizing and simple-minded crown prince. But severing her ties to an undesirable future is more challenging than expected, as the prince proves to be a stubborn opponent. Melissa must rely on her resilience from her former life to shake off the troubles of her new one and instead pursue whatâand whoâshe truly wants. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
[More info about my review style can be found on my profile] â¶Summary and recommendation: ----------------------------------------------------------------- It has a fairly standard settup for an otome isekai. A girl is reincarnated into the body of a villainess and needs to fight (mainly in the field of politics) to survive. It has strong humour and has a powerful protagonist without becoming a straight up power fantasy. The romance, although with caveats is enjoyable, and carries it to the end. This is a good read for fans of the Otome Isekai genre, and I recommend it to fans and newcomers.â¶Story & Romance: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The story is in my opinion at its strongest when focusing on the humour. Unfortunately for me the humour tapers out about halfway through to focus more on the political subplot and romance. Both of which are quite good, but the humour shone the brightest to me personally. The political subplot's climax was a slight letdown to me, but the romantic subplot was rewarding. It is in fact the romance (which is nicely expanded upon through post ending side stories) which left me satisfied enough to wholeheartedly recommend this manwha. And even if the romance does not do it for you, I believe it is still well worth reading just for the humour in the first half. Despite the praise I just gave the romance, I would like to state that it did not go the way that I and many (perhaps most) of the readers wanted. This is going to be a slight spoiler so please skip to the next section if you do not wish to be spoiled. This manhwa commits what is known as "yuri bait". Which is when a story is dropping hints that this story might feature a homosexual relationship between the main character and another woman, yet ends up going for a heterosexual relationship in the end. It came on so strongly, that when the actual romantic love interest had been decided, it felt cheap and undeserved. The author admirably spends the rest of the story proving its worth, and I have to admit they succeeded and the manhwa won me over in the end. â¶Characters: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The story has a strong female lead who never becomes a damsel in distress, even when the male characters shows up. The side character roster are in many ways filing typical niches (such as a generic "all brawn no brains" character), but It also has some really memorable and hilarious side characters, that adds a lot of colour to the story. â¶Artwork: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The artwork is very good, and does more than just service the story well. There are both gorgeous scenes showing off some of the best dresses in the subgenre, and memorable memeable scenes that I have seen posted elsewhere on the internet.
After a promising start, with a strong female lead who takes on the demented male leads without batting an eye, this manhwa quickly descends into nonsensical chaos after entering season two. If you're thinking that the unfortunate plot can be saved with the power of love, you would be sorely mistaken, as the romance is almost completely absent until the end. The characters, like the plot, do very little in terms of development. Though there are a few good chuckles in the more slapstick style approach to this trope, the story remains ever so generic. Simply put, with so many more manhwa to choose from inthe world of isekai romances, I wouldn't waste your time.
After completing even all the side stories all I can say is this would truly be a âmediocre fantasy world created by a korean authorâ WITHOUT SEASON 2 and (some) side stories. Character development is almost non-existent in Season 1 and majorly consists MC shooing away the FLâs male leadsâwhich gets boring. I was dreading to see what was so special in this webtoon. Towards the ending of Season 1, chapters 50+ introducing a new conflict definitely upped the whole story, and it felt refreshing to read something non-repetitive. DONâT read it for the romance. Iâm not saying itâs not there, but thereâs no MUTUAL love untilseason 2. The rare slip-in of dirty jokes in the side stories were funny once the relationship was established. Read âBeware of Villainessâ if: -You enjoy comedy. MC does some hilarious face expressions and comments. However, it sometimes spams the same faceâwhich might get annoying to some people. -Youâre wanting to read OP MC screw all her enemies over. She has crazy plot armor. -You like to see some action. This story had some sick fights throughout. Especially among the werewolves and monsters. -You want to delve into the side charactersâ stories. I personally think all the character development they had was more interesting than whatever the MC was doing. Even so, there was SO much filler in the side stories. I regretted reading some of them and it still left the story with many plot holes. You might feel even more displeased with the ending once you read the side stories too.
Well the middle was better than decent, but in the first 20 or so chapters everything felt like it took 5 times longer than it should (explaining things, finding solutions, etc.). And the end, well it came too soon, and the big baddie for all he had to say (and considering what he was) sure disappeared fast. Also who gets married without showing any kind of intimacy first ? I was disappointed in that. And then there's the side stories, which are a 3rd of the entire thing and contain everything the main story was missing, like side character development and the actual romance part because the mainstory had none, it would be more accurate to call it an Action-Fantasy rather than Romance-Fantasy. Normally most of that would've been in the main story, some might say it would've slowed down the pacing, but again, pacing is more of an issue in action stories than romance. As for the side stories themselves, at least 3-4 of the 7 parts were probably not worth reading for various reasons like showing more negative than positive things, giving backstories to characters I didn't like, like Kartena. Let's focus more on the positives, by far the thing that stood out most in this manga was the sound track... lol, just kidding, it was of course the artwork, simply excellent, traditional B&W manga art will forever be 2nd place from now on. The gender role semi-reversal aspects were also kinda nice, I almost thought (hoped) it would go in different (more GL) direction.
