Beautiful. Heart-warming. Near perfection. Mere words aren't enough to express my feelings for this manga. It wonderfully portrays loneliness, in a way that really clutches at your heart. It makes you feel their emotions as if you were them. The art style too, was brilliant. Their expressions, the scenery, the little details... everything was drawn beautifully. I couldn't stop myself from going back and staring at one panel for minutes. Their relationship too, was just amazing. It makes you want for more, and I really wish this manga was longer, while at the same time, it feels like it's best to be kept as itis. This manga was so refreshing, like a fresh breath of air, from the usual mangas of the BL genre... and I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a short, heart-warming, sweet and light read.
Haruki Homura lives in solitude in the snowy countryside of Hokkaido. Hiding all his emotions in his lonely heart, he can not help but detest the bleak, colorless world around him. One day, Haruki meets the outgoing photographer Akihito Narumi, who came from Tokyo to capture the elusive snow fairies with his camera. With no place to stay amidst the snowy conditions, Haruki decides to let Narumi stay at his house for the winter. As the affable photographer cracks open his host's frozen heart, Haruki slowly warms up to the beauty of the world around him. Gradually developing a close bond, these polar opposites begin to dread the arrival of spring, as their time together will come to an end once the cold winter passes. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
A sweet BL to warm the heart and soul *queue the fuzzy feeling*, let's get right into the basics. Story; Haruki Homura, a young man who lives in the country side of Hokkaido by himself, drives down the same snowy roads he always does when he discovers a rental car buried in the snow. Worried a foreigner might be stranded, he gets out of his vehicle to discover someone in the middle of the field. Without thinking twice, he yells to the figure in the distance, scaring away his models (the local swans) and gets captivated by the person's focus on the birds flight away. Thephotographer, Akihito Narumi, walks up to the local in excitement without hesitation. Aki-kun tells him about his career, what's he's doing in the country-side and how he currently has no place during the cold winter. Worried the city dweller will die from the cold because of hypothermia, living in his car and caring more about taking pictures than himself he offered his up his home as lodging. These two become close by learning about each-others pass, finding similarities in their up-bring and how important it is to put love into every photograph. Art; I've never read anything from Tomo Serizawa before, but I've officially fallen in love with their work. The sceneries were captivating, the "photography" was beautiful and every page with the AkiHaru combo made me smile. Characters; The balance between the shy Haruki and Akihito was perfection <3 Overall, I extremely enjoyed this 1 volume BL. Such a quick and sweet read. Nothing to scandalous, and just the PERFECT amount of romance. Even the side characters (Grandma, childhood friends and a god damn cat) were added in perfectly to build the relationship between the two gentlemen. Highly suggest the BL to anyone whose trying to get into the genre. It's not aggressive, beautiful to look at and makes you want to read every chapter without a single pause!
