Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this manga to anybody! It's not like it was the WORST thing I've ever read, maybe someone could get a little enjoyment just from reading it to pass the time, but I wouldn't really say it's worth buying or keeping or anything like that. This story needed a lot more chapters (or even volumes) in order to progress the characters to the extent that it wants to. With only a few chapters to its name, the character progression is LIGHTNING fast, and the drama hits you in an intense wave. A story like this, in my opinion, is better suitedto be a slow, agonizing drama where the characters make a concentrated efforts to understand each other, with the payoff being when they finally get together. All of this just happens way, way too fast. The same is with the little side stories in here. Once you start getting into it, they're already over. Instead of brief vignettes, I would have liked to see these characters developed more slowly. Instead, I feel like I barely know or can relate to the characters. They don't really act like real people because there is simply no time to develop them.
Nijou is the perfect student. He's class president, great at sports, and beloved by all his classmates, especially the girls. But he hides his true feelings; deep down he's terrified of letting everyone down with anything less than perfection and being rejected. As the most responsible and respected member of the class, he's asked by their teacher to check in on Toomi, a student who hasn't been to school in a while. Toomi sees straight through Nijou's insecurities and acts belligerent, but he has a secret of his own; in order to pay off his father's gambling debts, he performs in drag on an adult cam site as "Haruka." When Nijou accidentally discovers the truth, he struggles with whether he should tell Toomi, or continue to feign ignorance. But at the same time he finds himself developing feelings for Haruka...or is it really Toomi he's falling in love with? (Source: Tokyopop) Included one-shot: Soujikei no Koi
From the first chapter, I was stunned and I just drowned into the story. It's short. Incredibly short but it was also so painful that I was glad it was so short, but everything was also so on point and well paced that it didn't feel out of sync. I wouldn't say it's for everyone though... It's one of those niche poignant little blurbs that if you like, you love, if you don't you don't. It's a very specific little thorn to be pricked with maybe. But I digress. It's too short for you to need a review to read. I doubt you'll regret reading it.
