Written at the time of completion on Webtoon. This comic is utterly beautiful, sumptuous, and clearly has a lot of love poured into it. I do have my critiques of the early-middle portion of the story, but as soon as I realized the trajectory of the plot it fit into place. I do kind of wish that the other prominent female characters (other than the goat Saintess Tania) had more focus in the narrative, but the ones whose narratives intersected with Rieta's were well-executed. The character art, storyboarding and blocking, writing, and designs are beautiful and feel convincingly hand-crafted. They're excellent at conveying the delicate natureof growing close to people with baggage they haven't worked through, but in the process of growing close enough to them to help them work through their baggage, you have to watch them churn up something ugly in themselves before they can truly begin to heal. Intricately layered story about grief and well-written.

Synopsis

Vivisepulture—the practice of burying a living person to accompany the deceased as a sacrifice—awaited Rieta Tristi following the passing of Casarius, the Count of Cevitas. Her sacrificial burial to appease the gods comes amidst a plague that has claimed the lives of many, including her first husband. Rieta's daughter had been sold into the slave trade by the same person who is now asking her to be buried alongside him. While she accepts her death sentence, the ceremony is interrupted by the Archduke of Axias Manor. The Archduke is an outcast of his empire, owing to widespread tales of bloodshed and merciless killing by his hands.
