It's nice to see Alice again, at first I thought it would be a bad sequel just to cash the milk out of the cow, after all, the author already did a master piece with the first alice, why come back again for a sequel after such a perfect end? Well I was half wrong, it is obviously just a sequel to "cash cow" as max as possible, but the author being a very good one, he give us a good story and make the best of the character with only 13 chapters, where some other mangaka are lost in their creation after only onechapter. Read it if you liked the original manga, it's a nice way to see what happened to alice after the story, even if it was not necessary!

Synopsis

Twenty-six-year-old Ryouhei Arisu now has a fairly decent life working as a guidance counselor at school and being married to Yuzuha Usagi, a mountaineer he met eight years ago. When he discovers that his wife is due to give birth soon, he quickly rushes back to Tokyo to accommodate her. However, just as all seems well for Arisu, his current location is suddenly tormented by a heavy rainstorm. While urgently trying to travel through the oppressive weather, he is crushed by a falling billboard. This near-death experience transports Arisu back to Borderland—an unknown country where one must play grueling, sometimes sadistic games to determine whether they live or die. Recognizing the grave danger he is in, Arisu perseveres to return to the real world in hopes of reuniting with his family once again. I personally prefer Netflix's live action adaptation but i really wanted to see more from anime as well. Ever since Squid game released i been watching a lot of Survival anime and dramas and Alice in borderlands was the 2nd show after squid game that I watched. I have waited a year for 2nd season and after finally i personally think this could be made as 3rd Season or even a movie. As for this manga, I have seen a lot of plot twists especially this for being a Heart game. But overall short but very good bonus. But overall if you arefan of Survival manga/anime, psychology and drama then this manga is for you.

Think of Imawa no Kuni no Alice Retry as milking the success of it's predecessor in order to make a lackluster sequel that doesn't really add anything to the story. Just like Imawa no Michi no Alice, the only reason you'd read Imawa no Kuni no Alice Retry is because of the success of the original series. Not to say that Imawa no Kuni no Alice Retry is actually bad, it's just that it pales in comparison to the original and doesn't add on to the main series. It's just... there. It's a short 13 chapter run which doesn't really do anything but add one lastgame to the series. Was the singular game good? Yeah, it wasn't that bad at all, but the series doesn't culminate to anything else. I don't know if it got axed or whatever, but the sequel just ends just as soon as it started. Like I said earlier, the game of death that is shown in the manga isn't bad--it keeps up the spirit of the Alice in Borderland games that we're all familiar with, but if I'm being honest, the series kind of ran its course already. Perhaps if the sequel was long enough to be its own standalone, I'd get it, but that's not the case.
