This manga is absolute peak and life changing. PLOT (10/10): A guy just transforms randomly into a dog one day and he becomes his crush's pet. The plot is not only unique in the medium of anime and manga but it can even be compared to Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis; Even though I am sure that this story surpasses the latter in terms of depth and complexity by a landslide. (that's how great this story is) CHARACTERS(10/10): Let's start things off with the MC; he truly is one of THE SMARTEST mc's in all of fiction, I am sure his IQ is comparable to the smartest men to have ever lived;I say this because his ways of getting out of troubling situations (especially with Usagi-chan) are absolutely incredible. Truly a great character and it's only thanks to him that this story managed to flow at the great pace that it did. The female cast (pretty much the rest of the cast) is great too as they are all extremely human and feel alive, but the absolute best character is in my opinion Inukai herself. Her interactions with MCs are the most important part of the story as I believe they truly are the mean the author uses to convey the moral of the story. ART(10/10): feet 👍 MESSAGE(10/10): This story's message truly is moving. The main theme is self-acceptance, being able to understand that you are not weird or wrong for being the way you are. I believe the way the story tells this message is just perfect and has no downsides whatsoever. Absolute cinema.
The story follows the protagonist who wakes up one day transformed as Pochita, a pet dog of his cool and beautiful classmate Karen Inukai. (Source: MAL News)
I started reading the manga even before the anime was announced just because of my curiosity of how bad it could be and man I wish I hadn't. Story: (3-4/10) The entire story is mostly just you wondering who is this meant for because the stuff which happens in this manga makes you question who in the right mind said it was ok to publish as a manga and then even animated it even tho it doesn't adapt till the worst parts of the manga. To be fair the story does get a bit better towards the end but not worth it to suffer all that isbefore it. Art: (10/10) The only saving grace of this manga. The art is absolutely amazing and really makes you sad that it was wasted on a manga like this. Some of the panels are just so well detailed and at least the author put so much effort into the art side of things. Overall: (6/10) This is bad the only reason I am giving 6 as overall is because of the art which is doing all the heavy lifting.
It's a pretty special manga, not to say extremely rare. It borders on H on several occasions and made me rethink what I was reading several times. There were panels in the manga that made me look away from the screen for a moment to reflect on what I was seeing and why. The artwork is good, that's undeniable, but I found the story so strange that at many points I laughed at how weird everything suddenly became. The ending took me by surprise, but at that point, it's the least of your worries. In fact, you expect something even stranger. If you think you'veseen it all, you should check this out.
