Should have been a Harem ending. Well, some might call it cliché because of good MC as his answer to the question for the trolley question, which is. Will you sacrifice one life to save the lives of 100 people? He will choose to save all, even if it's seem impossible. Some people might hate this, but I am fine with it because there is already so much sadness in the world. Is a ray of hope which inspires to be better and kind really a bad thing? Well, some characters are not fleshed out properly. I have no interest in the main love interest, otherseems more charming because of their arcs. Not all. Overall, an okay story.
In a fantasy world where "jobs" are god-given from birth, heroes are born, not made...and Ein's job of "Appraiser" has put him about as far from the "hero" pedestal as possible. Used, abused, and eventually abandoned by his fellow adventurers, Ein decides it just isn't worth going on... Lucky for Ein, though, the end may just be the beginning...and a new lease on life. Turns out, his "worthless" job may just be the key to becoming a hero after all... (Source: Kodansha USA)
The final 17 chapters have been translated so I decided to wrap this up and give my perspective while I could still remember anything (I started reading this in 2024). Short answer, this story isn't worth the time it took to read. Our main character has a seemingly useless skill and is left for dead in a dungeon where the spirit of a holy tree, Yuri, saves his life. What follows is a story not unlike the premise of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. An underdog that is given the training regimen (but also mystic tree girl power) to become a hero. The journey has him ventureacross the planet trying to help Yuri find her other sisters and in the process, uncovering a shadowy plot by an organization bent on wiping out humanity. Sounds very shounen, and it is. Complete with hefty amounts of dramatic crying and screaming from one of Hiro Mashima's works. Except I never really felt the vibe it was trying to convey. The ending felt incredibly rushed, and the true villain's ultimate reveal, motive, and subsequent defeat, I would consider to be the most comically bad I've ever seen in an action/adventure manga. Battles in the climax of the story also start using heavy amounts of blood to the point where it might trigger some viewers with a history of self harm or "un-aliving" attempts. It's so bizarre considering the string of jokes and harem vibes that precedes it. On the surface, this should have everything I could ever ask for in this genre: well drawn art, highly expressive characters (seriously, compared to the average isekai this was drawn very well!), a diverse cast, and even romantic subplot. It just doesn't come together. I'll give it props for at least giving and ending that doesn't leave any loose ends like History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, and that sucker went on for over 500 chapters! But if you don't mind a cast of tropey harem girls mixed with shounen fights that look flashy but will quickly be forgotten, you could do worse than this. I just can't get over how bad the villain was. I'll keep my final review as mixed even though I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone over something like Rave Master.
