This is my second review, so I'm not exactly an expert, but I'll try my best. Story (7/10) While very much of the manga is made up of the characters' random misshaps and adventures, there is an actual plot to the story: the two main characters (Acony and Motomi) are on the hunt for Acony's mother who disappeared after an accident occured in her laboratory. It may get confusing at times, but it will definetely keep you interested and everything will make sense in the end. Art (8/10) Overall, the art is very simple and somewhat basic; however, a lot of detail is put into drawing the apartment building andits garden (where a vast majority of the story takes place) Characters (9/10) The characters are my favorite part of any anime or manga, and after reading this, I was definetely not disappointed. The writer takes time to introduce and slowly reveal more about each of the tenants who live in this supernatural apartment, and they were all unique and original. From the transforming, Mrs. Misono; the swordsman, Froggie; and our main characters: Motomi and Acony, all of the characters are wonderful. Enjoyment (10/10) It is a nice manga, that may seem strange at first, but is heartwarming once you get into it. Overall (9/10) I highly recommend it!
When Motomi Utsuki moves in his grandfather's apartment , he meets this girl named Acony who claims to be a dead person and eventually he gets to know that this place and the people living in the building are not normal.
Acony They had us in the 1st half, is what I would describe Acony. Starting with a mystery feel, the author drawing a lot of colored Acony made me feel this is gonna be a gothic horror. And yeah it is, at least at the first part. The afterwords also said that the author doesn't know the genre for this manga and should the author go for more comedy. I love comedy. And after hearing many jokes, Acony definitely delivered in the comedy aspect. I also love how volume 1 started with the art style like 'contemporary' to compliment with the mystery feels. And then gradually headed to amore common natural drawing while still retaining the angsty drawing. Started with a mystery, and then sprinkled with comedy. (Spoiler for this paragraph) I love how the author finished the mystery part early on the 3rd volume so it will not end in a "We now have the answer, therefore this manga is over" situation. After the answers for the mystery, we got more happy half of the 3rd volume. More comedy, and then it ended with a farewell. (Spoiler end) And of course, nothing beats mystery when it can happen in real life. Would I recommend you to read Acony? Definitely, despite some may get meh on the art style, I recommend you to persevere. Enjoy the comedy, and mystery for only 3 volumes.
