tldr, read it, it's good Criminally underrated, the excitement this manga provides is soooo much higher than the average stuff coming out recently. It makes me want to cry that this isn't going to be a long running series, I would happily pay for even just another volume. The thing that really makes this manga stand out is the characters unlikeable, likeable, they're all incredibly interesting. I'm a sucker for any manga that focuses on the villain more than the hero, but the more neutral already lost demon lord in this one brings so much to the story. The relationship the protagonist has with his parentsand how lonely he is truly is remarkable. I'm so sad bro...
The hero's son and the ghost of the Demon King are the master and pupil!? Eirth, the son of the hero who defeated the Great Demon King, is troubled. Always expected to achieve great things, but unable to meet those expectations. No matter the effort he puts in, and the results he obtains, it's never enough for them. "I'm a disappointment compared to my father" or "Don't you know you're the son of the hero!!" Living every day like this, Eirth meets his destiny in the room containing the sword of his father, the hero. "Interesting. I will train you. I have only free time now." Eirth receives special personal training from the Demon King just to get back at his parents and the world. In the coming days, his parents, the heroes of the past, his first love, the princess childhood friend, the geniuses of the era, and the world will tremble before him. (Source: MU)
If you are looking at this review I just want to say this is not a complete story. I don't know the specifics but it was axed at chapter 18. The story ends before it can actually solidify itself. However the setup for the main story are still worth reading. So if you can bear reading an unfinished piece of work it's worth a shot. The best chapter is 10 so I recommend at least read to that chapter, as its pretty unique and a decent twist. Overall its quite unfortunate that this got axed as it had a good premise and a nice twist. Itis adapted from a web novel, so if u are really interested you can check that out, although I can't comment on how good that is as I haven't read it myself.
Forbidden Master is a surprisingly charming fantasy story that was a lot better than I initially expected. I will try to keep this spoiler free but the synoposis is that the our main character is the son of the former hero who wasn't able to live up to the expectations of being the fathers son, but through being able to converse with the former demon lord will be able to get stronger than anyone could ever imagine. Feels quite generic doesn't it, and yeah it is, but the story succeds in making it's characters likable to a fault as there no antagonists in the 18 chapers thatwere released, but it's quite obvious that they were trying to set up a larger world that we would be able to explore together with our main character. The art is quite good. It won't make you stop reading to look at the details, but it's none the less quite good looking. In the end Forbidden Master is like flower the wasn't let to flourish, but still something that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good fantasy and there is allways the webnovel to check out if you want more. I sure will.
They Axed such a good story. I've been dabbling along with cancelled manga recently. Unknown, strange, prequels, or weird side-stories to main-line things. Usually short, usually bad, or too extra to be anything worthwhile. This one, on the other hand, was a story with an incredible main character. His motivations are shallow, but ultimately psychologically sensical. Eirth is the son of the man who “killed” the demon lord. The world is now at a kind of peace, but, there's nothing peaceful about being the next big thing. He's got the world of expectations on top of him, son of the hero who stopped all evil in thisworld. The hero couldn't be a good father, someone who could listen to his son, and understand his perspective. It was expected of him to use a sword, to be the man, to achieve more than anybody. Nothing he did reached anything anybody wanted of him. A perfect moment of dead ambition, fueled by a sealed villain of old, the demon lord himself, who helps out of the simple will of being able to. To be remembered, to be someone, to be what your parents want you to be, or what your friends expect you to be. Eirth takes the chance to make a mentor of the Demon Lord, and while that sounds like such a typical story, it feels so organic. Both have such great chemistry. The Demon lord comes to really like another kind of social outcast like him, a world outcast. The bonding, and the chance the main character has to be listened to. It's only natural we feel for both of them, and we wish for both to be something they can be proud of. It's a perfectly engineered tragedy, but it ends just as it becomes fantastic. It couldn't do more, cancelled before we reach the aftermath of the first act turn. The art was good, the story was great, the main character had so much to work towards, and the pacing was nothing short of masterful. Every other character had strong bones to create a perfect organism. The servant, and her past, his father, aware now of how bad he messed everything up. His mother, unknowingly giving his child the ability to fall down this road. His friends, not knowing they pushed this kid into a tragic world. An absolute shame, but I'll head towards the light novel. Might as well. If the manga continued, I'd have been a grand fan. 8/10. Some of the biggest wasted potential.
Oha- to my own surprise, I have now read through a manga for the first time. Although that was not really difficult, where he has only 19 chapters ... Before I say much here, you must know that the manga is finished. Not because the story is finished - I rather have the impression that just the introduction is through - but simply because it was not continued after this introduction. Admittedly, there is still a finale that concludes a story - but it initiates a much larger story at the same time and accordingly it's just an open ending. I don't like that. Even though thelight novel the manga is based on seems to go on, but I don't want to rate the work in relation to another. In fact, I think that's a downright bummer, because while the story may initially sound like the generic "weakest shows in the world he's strong" story, it quickly becomes clear here that it's deeper and more complicated. This seems to be about true friendship, love, and ideals - nothing much more unusual than "weakest shows in the world he's strong", but could have been better and more exceptional. Accordingly, I can't recommend this manga, even though I quite liked it overall.
