To be honest this is a story you would easily overlook, and I admit I didn't have any expectations at first other than I thought the art was cute... It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the storyline was good as well, with a romantic relationship that develops at a normal and realistic pace. What is most outstanding is probably the deep message between the lines, telling the reader to live your life. Quote from manga: "Work to live, don't live to work" Overall I found it entertaining and I wished it was longer. I would definitely recommend to give it a try (:
Extremely sweet and wholesome! This is a manga I expected to read just to pass the time. Instead, I found a story I fell in love with so much that I went and bought it — and I only buy absolute favorites. If you're looking for smut, be warned that you won't find it here. At most, you get a kiss and the start of a sex scene at the very end. Instead, there are plenty of scenes where Kihachi and Souta get to know each other and bond as a couple. And you know what? As a seasoned BL reader, I appreciated the slower paceand the focus on romance. The art and panel layout are beautiful, but what I liked most was the fact that the relationship isn't rushed and that even if it starts off as a classic "marriage by contract", Kihachi and Souta's relationship blossoms into much more by the end of the manga. My only gripe is that it was too short!
Worked ragged, Souta Matoi is exhausted. Even a single night's rest does little to ease the bone-deep fatigue. In a daze on the commute home, he decides to go to a koudan show, a type of traditional Japanese storytelling. The storyteller's jaunty voice, the picturesque atmosphere, and the lively dramatics all evoke memories of happier times. That is when Souta sees it—the storyteller, Kihachi Toujou, turns into a cat. Having seen a true bakeneko, a monster-cat spirit, Souta is now no longer allowed to live. This holds true for Kihachi as well, who allowed a human to witness his cat form. However, there is a workaround to this dilemma—all Souta has to do is marry Kihachi. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
