With her sole hobbies being reading and cooking, Tsukina Mizumori is a lonesome woman in her 30s who keeps to herself. As such, she unsurprisingly rejects the offer of becoming a savior for another world after being summoned by an orb that calls itself God. Despite growing out of bothersome adventures, Tsukina has no choice but to do what It saysâthough not before being given a few benefits to make her life easier. With the help of a magic pendant, Tsukina is able to start her own book cafe on the outskirts of town. Her first customer ends up being Il Soeilâcaptain of the Knights of Othel and a fellow bookworm. Exhausted from dealing with the other savior, who prefers to spend her time with the prince instead of learning spells, Il comes to appreciate the charming business and soon takes a liking to the owner. For three months, Tsukina is content with her peaceful life and her status as an anonymous savior. However, when God grants her a visit to warn her about the other savior, the otherwise self-assured bibliophile might not be able to hide her secret any longer. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
The Savior's Book CafĂ© Story in Another World was that fantasy romance manga that looked like a shojo romance but was serialized in a seinen magazine. Predictable Mary Sue Protagonist: Tsukina, the female lead, fits the Mary Sue archetype too neatly. She possesses magical powers, runs a book cafĂ©, and is universally liked. Her lack of flaws makes her less relatable and reduces tension in the story. Underutilized World-Building: Despite being set in another world, the story doesnât fully explore its potential. The remote location of Tsukinaâs cafĂ© away from the central plot (the royal palace) diminishes the impact of major events, rendering them mereafterthoughts. Shallow Characterization: While Tsukinaâs slice-of-life activities are charming, the supporting characters lack depth. The knight Il, who shares Tsukinaâs love for books, has chemistry with her, but their interactions remain surface-level. More nuanced character development would enhance the overall experience. Too Kind Monarchy: The kingdom where the characters reside stands out for its understanding and benevolent monarch. However, this utopian portrayal feels unrealistic, especially in an isekai setting. A touch of complexity or conflict within the ruling system would add depth. Rushed Pacing: Despite having only 26 chapters, the storyâs pacing feels hurried. While the ending is satisfying, some plot points could benefit from further exploration. A more balanced progression would make the journey more fulfilling. In summary, âThe Saviorâs Book CafĂ© Story in Another Worldâ offers a pleasant romance with minimal commitment, but it misses opportunities for deeper world-building and character development. Still, if you seek a quick read with a conclusive ending, itâs worth considering.
This manga is a lighthearted read, great for those looking for a cozy romance with an uncomplicated plot. The romance is very sweetâfeaturing a simple romance between two adults who are book-lovers. The romance also isn't laid on too heavy, and is pretty evenly balanced with the overall story. Even though this manga is an isekai, the plot begins rather quick and jumps right into the main point. I really liked the premise and thought that the main character was pretty relatable. Although I enjoyed the plot and pacing, I would have liked to see it expanded upon a bit, but it's not a hugedeal as I enjoyed it as is, too. The characters are also incredibly cute and the art style wasn't bad at all (it was actually rather lovely). I'd recommend this cute story to anyone who enjoys fantasy and is in need of an easy read. It's pretty easy to finish this manga quickly as it only has a few volumes and the plot isn't super crazy, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy. :)
Isekai isn't typically my thing, but the premise of this one easily had me sold when I first discovered it; a woman is taken to another world and told she is to become one of its saviors. She'd rather run a book cafe, though. Combine that with a touch of romance and boom, you've got me. The characters aren't exactly complex, but they're still enjoyable and fit in with the theme of the series quite well. It's also nice to see a series with an adult cast amongst a sea of your standard teenage protagonists. Tsukina and Il's relationship is refreshing, and I was constantly remindedof how charming the two of them are. Its story is rather predictable and the writing is at times cheesy, though overall the series benefits from this. It's short and simple in all the right ways and the art is pleasing to the eye. Beautiful landscapes, delicious looking food, and not over-the-top character designs blend right in. Savior's Book Cafe Story in Another World delivers what it promises perfectly (save for some not too flattering depictions of Middle Eastern countries). If you're in the mood for some wholesome fantasy romance, this one will scratch that itch.
