What a wonderful series! While it is a simple romcom with a gimmick, I think it works really well! Plus, the spirit is entertaining in its own right! I like all of the characters (except the annoying rival towards the end). Torii is a fairly simple MC, but he has just enough going on that makes him not just a complete carbon copy of the "everyman" MC. Even better, Kirishima is a great female lead that puts in effort to win Torii's heart without being overbearing and really pushes when needed. I really liked the secondary characters, especially Himenomiya (I love her design so much!!) Of course, there is the spirit that haunts Kirishima (called Reiko from here on) that plays a main role in the story. A lot of the time, I find the romcom gimmick to be frustrating, but Reiko pushes the plot forward when needed and expresses how the reader may feel during a moment (at least for me she generally did). When something funny or interesting happens, she laughs, and when someone interrupts a good moment, she flails in frustration. Her creepy art always brings a unique life to a scene... I found myself screenshotting them and sending them to friends as I read. 9/10 I highly recommend this romcom with a gimmick. I think it excels in that regard, making the tired slow burn innocent romance fun and fresh with Reiko to help do so. If you aren't into this genre and theme, then this manga will not change your feelings. I think I'll come back to this one on occasion for the laughs and the fun story and art.
My name is Nozomu Torii, a plain introvert. Suddenly a new transfer student, Kyouko Kirishima, sits next to me. She's cute, kind, and for some reason, she proactively talks to me, even though I'm a nerd! A true saint. Yet I want to get involved with her as little as possible because she's haunted by a "ghost" that only I can see! She's a little naughty, extremely pure and, in some cases, horrifying! Will I ever find a way to handle her? A romantic comedy about a "haunted" girl and an "unlucky" boy that gets your heart racing is about to begin! (Source: Kodansha, translated)
If you are searching for a pretty simple romance manga, this is for you. The manga can be a bit slow at first, but trust me, it gets better. Here goes my detailed review: A) WRITING: 35/50 1. Story (9/15) The story is nothing amazing because there isnât actually one, (donât get me wrong, there is a story) but itâs just the basics. Apart from that, the manga doesnât provide almost any answers to the mysteries that are presented in the story. So donât expect anything (except goofiness) from the spirit, there is almost no lore regarding it. But this isnât bad because this manga is onlyfocused on the romance between the 2 MCs (and also the relationships betweens all of them). In conclusion, there is a basic but cute romance main story, with a 1% of real lore regarding the spirit. It may be basic but itâs very entertaining, so I think that it deserves a 9/15. 2. Plot (11/15) The plot is just the 2 MCs advancing in their relationships (that + their friends). It would be the typical romance plot if it wasnât for the spirit (donât get me wrong, it IS the typical romance plot, but the spirit creates some variation, and it feels refreshing compared to the average romance), who always seems to help the MCs (indirectly) with their relationship. Also I love how goofy she is. (This doesnât take away the scary part) 3. Characters (15/20) I will only talk about two characters here since I donât have all day to write this review (this doesnât mean that other characters wonât be taken into account for the final score). First of all, there arenât any annoying characters, well except a certain guy⊠Anyways all background characters are decent enough and I didnât felt bored with any of them, second of all I really appreciate the male mc having an actual brain, and lastly, I love how goofy the spirit is, even if she almost doesnât talk, I feel like she was able to represent the readers of the manga. B) ART: 24/30 4. Characters (15/15) The art for all the characters is good, and the art for the spirit is amazing. The author was able to draw a goofy and scary face at the same time. 5. Backgrounds (9/15) The backgrounds are normal, not great but not bad. C) PERSONAL: 20/20 6. Quality Consistency (5/5) There weren't any bad chapters 8. Chapters readed (5/5) I read the whole thing, so its a 5 9. Enjoyment (10/10) This was good, if you like simple romance stories then this is for you. Itâs the work of the ghost FINAL SCORE: 79/100
This is your paranormal rom-com with an extra dose of ecchi, I swear, the romance is pretty good and the secondary characters are also good. The fact that this manga is so enjoyable is largely due to the fact that the protagonist is not so perverted and instead offers to help this girl, first because he knows he is the only one who can help, and second because he may have ulterior motives, but the important thing is that they love each other. Also, during the manga, some girls appear who at times have feelings for the protagonist, but our guy is quite respectable andfaithful, which is why he doesn't have the harem tag. The artwork is simple but good, and the plot is pretty standard for a romcom.
