This is a case of "I came here for the smut, stayed for the story". I am really impressed with Blood Bank. Even the lack of smut still makes the story pretty solid. This is probably one of the few yaoi's I've read that really delved deeper into the plot and explored the story in its glory. Although I am quite sad that we didn't get to see more of Eric and Shell's romance through out the story, but their relationship was purely built on love, trust and honesty which I think some manhwa kinda glossed over to just focus on smut. But here Ikinda wished there were more intimate scenes because they look so good together. Can you believe we get a sex scene around chapter 40-ish? That's one heck of a story build-up if you ask me. And that's what make Blood Bank so good! I want a hundred side stories from this because I want more Eric and Shell lovey-dovey moments!
Long ago, darkness overtook the world, and humans were saved by their natural predators: vampires. As an act of gratitude, humans willingly sell their blood to them, leading to the creation of "blood banks." When Shell Overlord, an elite bank lord's son and successor, visits the bank, he notices something amiss about a banker. Going by the name "One," he seems to be one of the extremely rare humans who are immune to pheromones—a unique fragrance that bends humans to any vampire's will. However, One is not the only odd one out. Shell is an "abnormal" vampire, meaning that he likes to be dominated by humans, although superior by nature. Attracted—and aroused—by One's resistance to his pheromones and the fact he is the only human who can truly degrade him, Shell begs One to fulfill his submissive needs. While the two are now forced to keep their steamy relationship a secret, they might soon realize that the feelings they have for one another go far beyond what the limits of society will ever allow. Blood Bank is something any fan of yaoi should sit down and read sometime. The story starts off a bit questionably due to the power imbalance and active trauma in One's (the MC) life, but the story progression and development as it goes along massively makes up for it. The main pairing cannot be considered sunshine and roses the entire time, but they work through their issues and find each other on equal standing by the end of it all. Please note, many deep topics are touched such as: racism, classism, internal corruption, sl@v3ry, child @buse, gr00ming, and xen0ph0bia. Despite the numerous sensitive topics the authorsuccessfully addresses, you also will see a well-written romantic and sexual relationship develop between the main pair. The backstory of the world and characters is fleshed out enough while not dragging on. Many readers have recorded crying during certain parts. It is equally tragic and happy. The conclusion is very satisfactory despite the losses. The reason it is not rated ten by me is because the ending feels complete yet simultaneously not enough. You will understand what I mean if you ever read it.
Honestly this was a New dirrection of a story i didnt exspect. And I quite liked it. The story feels a little rushed and i honestly feel the Authors could have added more time/depths into it. Has it sometimes feels rushed or jumpy. It made me confused a couple of times and questioned if the manga was printed wrong or if ive missed something along the lines. Yet the story keep me going towards an very interesting ending with plot twists and feelings. The drawing or art itself its pretty good. Its nicely done and you easily shows the different between the comedy and the seriousnessof the serie. Tho i must admit that even if this was rated has erotic dont expect too many scene towards the end has the spicyness is most in the beginning and the actions of the story is more towards the end. Overall I do recommend giving it a shot.
