While I'm not a huge fan of shoujos jumping all over the panel twisting their agile bodies this way and that, it looked cute on our genki heroine Yuzuki, who suffers from what others label a "brother complex". Honestly, I don't see that, all I see is a sister who's accustomed to being the center of attention in her brother's kind eyes, and doesn't want the warmth they share to be lost. So obviously when he gets a girlfriend who replaces Yuzuki's specially prepared for onii san bentos with her own, Yuzuki is feeling a bit low. In a daze she bumps into a fellow wholooks shockingly like her brother, only not related to her (already a sign!). She somewhat stalks him to his school the next day and somehow ends up doing all things weird giving them both a very suspicious opinion of her! But there's more to Atsushi-kun than being critical of her abnormal behavior and Yuzuki feels this chance encounter is fate. Only what will Onii san think of his doppelganger hanging around his precious Yuzuki and won't Atsushi realize what a true head case Yuzuki is if he ever sees her brother and the similarity in their faces?! Eek looks like a recipe for trouble. What really appealed to me in this very touching and overly sweet (not cloyingly so) story is the female lead Yuzuki and her tenacity. You can really sympathize with every reaction she suffers in the story, regardless of whether it’s related to onii san or not. Her mortification and despondency is portrayed extremely well even though I feel her general facials seem a little over the top to me. Atsushi is drawn really beautifully and his reserved expressions do his serious personality full justice. His personality is developed to be completely dashing and kind which fits with Yuzuki’s idealization of him. Comic timing is really exploited to the hilt in this story. Normally in a manga, when the heroine is being assaulted, you KNOW the hero is right around the corner rushing to save her. But in this one, whenever Yuzuki is absorbed in her own thoughts and you don’t expect anything any distractions, BOOM appears Atsushi with his somewhat concerned-for-Yuzuki’s-stability expression! This also leads to his first (and second and third) impression of her being rather creepy which is also depicted hilariously. I especially love the secondary character of the brother here. He's uncharacteristically kind and understanding. The artwork for the bishies was good in that it imparts a happy atmosphere to the entire story rather than a doki doki one, which fits the plot. The situations are unique and a panel or two will really make you break into girlish giggles coz it's just so darn unbelievable how unlucky Yuzuki can get! Reading this is a great opportunity to fall for Seizuka's works and I'm sure you'll be looking forward to more from the mangaka after this.
Yuzuki has a crush for her super kind and cool brother, but she has her heart broken when he brings his girlfriend home one day. The next day, by chance, she bumps into a guy who looks exactly like her brother! What is this feeling that she has for him? Is it just because he looks like her brother, or is it...? I not a yery big fan of one-shots because they're too short and don't make the story worth while. But i loved this one. THe art was really good and the story was too. It was really funny and romantic at the same time. Both brother and sister had a complex for each other which made it funny when her brother saw the guy that looked like him and got jealous. Wonderful, cute story.
I was not going to leave a review on this, because I cannot believe I willingly read something with a sibling complex, but all the other reviews are from years ago. So, here is a present day review in the lovely year of 2023. I tend to just quickly browse over works from the early 2000s, especially the shoujo demographic, as its my favorite. I assume I added this one because the cover art is just my style, but I was so incredibly wrong. I love one shots and I never have minded fast paced one shots, however this one was completely weird. If you likesibling complex plots then this story is right for you. Both the brother and sister have complexes for once another, and it seems to me the sister is very obviously way younger than her brother. The story is incredibly easy to understand and follow. When the younger sister, who is essentially in love with the elder brother and wants to be his bride, learns that he has a girlfriend, she feels betrayed because she is no longer his "number one." She wishes for someone who looks precisely like her brother to be her love counterpart since she feels upset that her brother has a girlfriend (cue man who looks exactly like brother but wears glasses entering picture). The two siblings who are in love with one another get envious of their lovers, just like in any other sibling complex work, and that is essentially all there is to this story. As anticipated for the 2008 work. If you like bro-sis coms, this one is very quick to the point and for you. Plot: 4/10 Art: 6/10 - Classic shoujo style, I LOVE it, however it feels that this work was a bit rushed and made it look sloppy. Characters: 1/10 - I have nothing good to say about ANY of these characters..
