Oh, boy, this was so bad... Ok, so, first of all, the art is impeccable, I love it. Very beautiful and nice, but unfortunately is not enough to make up for the rest because, damn, this was a huge mess. It basically is just boys having sex, it doesn't even create a nice story nor develop a real relationship between the main characters, it feels forced to me. I wasn't really attached to either of them, I wasn't drawn by the story, it was nothing interesting to me. Some people like to give high rates to a certain Bl just because it has sex in it, butthat doesn't really work for me, It needs to create, at least, a nice development and it wasn't the case of this manga. It was a huge disappointment to me because I loved the art, but the story doesn't make it justice.
Mao Sawada and Shunsuke Oka are surprised to hear that two of their friends have been dating for a month. More than anything, the passionate noises they overhear through a wall leave them wondering about all the physical activities the new couple engages in. Curious, they begin experimenting with each other, realizing that maybe being just friends is not enough. [Written by MAL Rewrite] Included one-shot: Hajimari no Period (The Starting Period)
I would like to provide a different vision because I didn't read it with the same eyes of the people from the other reviews: This manga, unlike Shikke's other manga, is not so focused on developing romantic attraction, but sexual, because it already exists. It's basically the story of two guys who love each other romantically, this is clear with how they look like a couple. The way MC talks about ML and how they are always together, they can't be separated and all these details. Then, one day, they discover that two friends are dating and a new world opens up in their heads. It'slike "how come two guys can be together like this?". Then they begin to develop physical awareness between them and things happen. They hadn't looked at their relationship differently until then. It seems to be just sex because it kind of is, romance is not an issue that needs to be developed. The author's other works have much more feeling, but I didn't think this one was bad because I'm not a very romantic person either. My past relationships were basically like that, so it's very credible and it makes sense to me the way they think. Developing feelings for someone you've been with for years and already has intimacy is very different from when you're someone new. The shyness phase kind of doesn't make sense anymore. It's something cute that's in fiction to give more emotion, I like it a lot, but it's just one of the ways to show it. They are boys discovering sex, so it also made sense for them to be so euphoric about it. However, the unrespected "no" bothered me, I won't deny it. But other than that, it's a funny story to laugh about. More something fun to pass the time than to get emotional.
I read the previous review that didn't recommend it and how they lacked emotions/feelings for each other as well as a connection, but I had read the authors previous works so I figured they wouldn't write a bad story like the person made it sound...I was very wrong. This story lacks emotions, a connection between the MC & the ML, the poor bottom isn't being taken care of like he should by the top. The top isn't even listening to his stops or wait's and then when the bottom said he is hurting the top just keeps wanting to try new things and keep goingeven when their friends who are also gay and in a relationship with each other check up on them. Their gay friend talks to the MC but it's like the MC is too selfish and stupid to care or even understand. Their relationship didn't even feel like a relationship, it straight up just felt like one sided curiosity which dragged the ML into his curiosity. The extra chapter of a side story was no better it was dub con which also lacked emotions. Aside from the horrible story telling the art is nice which is the main reason it's a 5 and not something lower. This story could have been interesting and had the emotions if it had more chapters and the MC wasn't so stupid and selfish.
After seeing the reviews not recommending this manga I feel like I have to share my two cents. I liked this story, I'm just a simp for the "friends to lovers" trope, what can I say, but I do see how some people may not enjoy the story. It feels a bit empty and the romance wasn't really developed at all which is a shame because I thought that it was going to go deeper into how Oka went from being flustered by sharing a bed with Mao, to realizing he liked Mao; but oh well, this was one of those situations where I take whatI can, and what I take is that Mao is insane but freaking funny and Oka is just cute and relatable in a way. But yeah, I'm really disappointed in the romance department, I mean, Mao grabbing Oka's shirt and crying? that was fucking cute and it seemed like a great start for a cute romance, but sadly the author wasted the setting they themselves created lmao. I recommend people give it a try, but indeed it may not be for everyone.
