So the drip finally stops... Chapter 144 is the final one for the manga, of which I just got done reading. Overall I thought the series was very charming. Basically, the whole story is a bit like Teasing Master Takagi-san, but more light hearted and the dude isn't actually dense...in fact he's thinner than air. But it's a nice story about how one person can open up your eyes to see a whole new side of the world you've never experienced before. The art has an interesting style from jumping back and forth between chibi and regular art, which heightens the more comedic moments well. Andalthough it's a classic "middle/high school romcom", the characters' personalities and obstacles make it more unique. A good read to where you can knock 10 chapters off each night and go to bed satisfied and relaxed, though some of the arcs make you wanna read just a bit more! Really my only negative points to it was the pacing wasn't consistent at times which affected the story and visualization of the timeline a bit. Also it being a weekly series made it felt a bit rushed. But other than that, the only other negative thought I have was how it did end. It felt kind of abrupt, and it would've been nice to get a bit more post-story reactions and side stories from the characters. However that doesn't mean the ending was bad at all, it was a straight to the point and wholesome one, so at least it wasn't dragged on like some series. But I guess that's just me being upset that a good manga ended. I started reading Kubo a few months ago when my local bookstore had the first 3 volumes on display in front of the manga section. I then started to notice it everywhere in other bookstores, with more and more volumes. Flipping through the first chapter, it seemed like a nice change of pace from the other series I read, so I picked up the series (luckily the official publisher posts the chapters online for free, you can just search it up on MangaPlus). And I'm really happy I did and kept up with it. I then learned like 6 months after it was announced that it was getting an anime (ironic now), so that was cool. It's one of the most anticipated series I read each week. Well done to the author and I can't wait to see what they do now! And hopefully and anime starts back up sometime soon =D .
High school student Junta Shiraishi has a simple goalβto live a fulfilling youth. However, achieving this goal appears to be harder than expected, as everyone in his surroundings often fails to notice him due to his lack of presence. In fact, Shiraishi's lack of presence is so severe that people think his seat in class is always empty, and mistakenly assume that he often skips school. There is even a weird rumor spreading around in class, claiming that those who successfully spot Shiraishi will be blessed with good fortune for the day. So far, the only person who notices his existence is Nagisa Kubo, the girl seated next to him. Unfortunately for him though, Kubo likes to tease him on a daily basis and often puts him into unprecedented and nerve-wracking situations. However, as Kubo's playful antics continue to involve the reluctant Shiraishi, he may soon discover that his youth might not be as boring as he initially thought. Kubo-san is probably one of the best mangas of its ilk. It is certainly one of the most wholesome and comforting romcom mangas I have read, which is absolutely the biggest strength of this manga. Even if the high school romance format has been overdone, it never took away from the manga's best qualities. The writing also rarely felt too cheesy, which is a very common problem in this subgenre. Seeing Kubo appreciate Shiraishi for who he truly is, playfully teasing him without going too far, and naturally encouraging him to come out of his shell; it's all very cute and heartwarming. It's also great tosee Shiraishi surprise her every now and then, and try to return her good deeds. Shiraishi's gimmick of being an invisible character is very well used from start to finish, it's always used to great comedic and/or cute effect. The supporting cast are also no slouches here. I'm particularly in love with how integral Kubo's family are to the main couple's relationship. Her older sister's constant hyperaware teases and her younger sister's slight jealousy is very fun to see, and has surely influenced Kubo's realization of her true feelings in some way. All in all, this manga is a must read if you're enjoy these sort of romcoms, it's pretty much a constant stream of insulin.
After 144 chapters, Kubo-san Won't Let Me Be Invisible concluded with a beautiful ending. There are many positives to the manga, but if I were to pick out the noteworthy ones, it would be the main and supporting characters, as they contributed significantly to the story's overall appeal and progression. The main characters. Shiraishi is a person with little presence who went unnoticed by everyone in his surroundings, except for Nagisa, who sits next to him and is able to sense his presence normally. The story's progression sees the two classmates gradually develop a pure and playful relationship, bringing comfort to the readers. Nagisa's presencealso allowed Shiraishi to experience notable character development. The supporting characters are also essential to the main cast's development, and none of them gives off a bad aura. Individually, they add variety and entertainment to the story with their distinct personalities and actions, generating boundless pleasure in reading the manga. Overall, Kubo-san Won't Let Me Be Invisible is a heartwarming read with a slow and comforting pace. If you are searching for a fluffy romance manga, this one is definitely worth reading.
I have never kept up with a manga weekly before, I would always fall behind after a couple weeks. When I found Kubo I was hooked and caught up within the first day. It was such a delight to add to my weekly Wednesday routine and I looked forward to it every week, showing up to school telling my friends about it every time. When I realized I had just read the last chapter we would get, I was genuinely in tears. This is an incredibly heartfelt and happy manga. The story does not matter because its all about the characters. At the start when itsjust the two main characters, it does not feel boring. Enough happens between the two to keep you hooked, and their character dynamics are just perfect together. Once their friends get introduced it does not ruin the flow of the overall story, it more of a welcomed treat. This whole manga is about their quirky personalities and how they use that to have fun. I would not have been able to tell you that I could tell it was coming to an end the last couple chapters, so the ending seemed a little abrupt. With no extra long chapter or anything like that. With that said, it was not a bad ending. It has me grinning from ear to ear. It perfectly wrapped up everything about the manga and everything that made it good into a nice ribbon. Because this manga genuinely made me a happy when I read it and I was always smiling from ear to ear, I will consider it one of my favorite reads of all time, and I will come back to it every once in a while. I do not think I could recommend it more for a depressed teenage boy to binge read at 2 am, I wish it was there for me when I needed it.
Oh man this was such a heartwarming and fluffy read that I would honestly recommend this to any fan of Romance. I very randomly decided to read this one, Although I had my eye on it for quite a while. Let's start with the review. The story for this manga is really basic and almost too simple, It's about a boy who is so introverted that no one even knows about his presence. While that plot may have done so many times, The way how Yukimori sensei managed to convey such powerful emotions via this manga is simply amazing. I'm not even kidding when I saythat the Main character has one of the best character developments I've seen in recent memory atleast. You just can't help but root for the main character and the main girl to end up together and in a fluffy lighthearted manga like this, That's all you need. It reminded me of my college and university days, the regrets I had and the things I did. It evoked many emotions within me which is honestly surprising and I was not expecting to like it this much. I was expecting an average rom com but this one certainly is a high quality one which deserves praise. The art is light and easy on the eyes, another thing to note is that the chapters are short yet all contain meaningful pieces for moving the story forward so you can read it without feeling like the story isn't going anywhere. Infact, I wish it was slightly longer even, But I respect the author's vision and really really loved the ending. In a world where everyone is hyping the next big action anime/manga, Sometimes all you need is a good old rom com manga which ticks all the boxes and manages to surpass your expectations. This manga has such a cozy vibe too. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5 but since MAL does not have the decimal rating system, I'll settle for an 8/10 rating. It has a season 1 at the time of writing this review and I hope it definitely gets another season and adapts the remaining chapters. If you are in a sad stage of your life or are just burned out from anime/manga. Then this manga will be the perfect thing to reinvigorate your interest in the medium. The manga is also very beginner friendly too so people new to manga can even pick it up easily. Thanks for reading this review, Have a cookie! πͺ
