I could've never imagined that a "romance" oneshot could be this good. I dislike romance. I dislike yanderes. Seeing cute girls sadden me. I dislike good-looking main characters with friends that care about them. I love art that's good at expressing emotions. I love masterfully written stories that makes my heart stop for a moment. Therefore this is a 10/10 for me. This manga has everything an oneshot should have. Characters that can convey their feelings (and makes you feel them), great art (even in movement), good usage of panels, perfect pacing and shock value. Starting today, I'll be recommending this manga to new readers and will be following the author & her otherworks, rather closely.
Furuya has finally escaped from his yandere girlfriend Sara. It was so simple—all he had to do was kill her. But it seems that not even death can separate them, as she lingers as a ghost due to her regrets. Back when Sara was alive, Furuya felt her looming presence at every turn; now, as a spirit, she is like any normal girl. Perhaps he had misinterpreted her the whole time. As his guilt piles up, Furuya feels like he has to atone for his actions—but at what cost? [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Oh shit here we go again. Machigatteita no wa Ore Datta n da, it's a one shot (obviously there is only one chapter), it tells the story of a guy who killed his own girlfriend and feels relieved by it, well the synopsis delivers the entire script of the anime, reasoning a little do you kind of predict what will happen in the end. ***SPOILERS*** Remembering this is totally from my point of view and personal beliefs. The story begins with Furuya (MC) telling you that he killed his girlfriend (Sara), and you think he is upset or something, but in fact he is relieved to have done soand then comes the question "Why did he kill she ?" so, continuing his story, he tells us how his relationship with her was (my god, what a fucking relationship) and we found out that she was a strictly psychotic stalker, and that in one day he couldn't take it and pushed her down the stairs causing her death, of course he didn't he did it because he wanted to, but Sara made him so neurotic that it was inevitable that he would freak out. And then out of nowhere she appears like a ghost in his room saying that he couldn't go to heaven until he gets rid of her regrets, and then he starts to fulfill her wishes, so that she leaves for the next world, they start going out on dates, over time Furuya realizes that Sara was acting like a normal girl, he was so concerned with protecting himself that he never stopped to listen to her side, and his guilt is only increasing, due to the sweet and gentle way that she acts, she doesn't blame him for killing her, she loves him so much that even though he is a murderer she still likes him, after going out with her many times, he realized he was wrong by the way he judged her and started to think she is cute again, and this increases her guilt, after a few days he comes to the conclusion that it was all his fault, and then he asks her if spirits can touch each other, and she says yes, so she can't take it anymore kill and then ... BOOOM PLOT TWIST In fact it was all her plan, after killing himself he says the following phrase "yes I am the idiot who died for you" and she answers "YES" "YOU ARE A GREAT IDIOT" "I AM VERY SURPRISED" she says she was acting and that since the beginning that was her plan, filling it with guilt would make him kill himself and in the end she declares that he had been stuck with her for all eternity. well I tried to summarize the story (more than it already is) it’s an ok story, analyzing it deeply, it’s a shitty story, Because it is a one-shot does not have a good weight development, the characters are archetype characters (archetype characters are characters that are practically a personality, like in some animes that are defined as yandere, dandere, tsundere and etc. having only that personality without depth or background) it's a short story so consider this, the story would be better if we didn't know right away (synopsis ...) that Sara is a stalker or psychopath, she should have more mysteries, already playing from the beginning that she is a psychopath left it very forced she acts naturally, and she doesn't even have to think about it, as someone who is psychopath acts normally, of course there is something strange there ART: 8 The character design is really beautiful CHARACTERS: 5 psychopathic yandere, neurotic MC STORY: 6 If you turn off the brain it's fun SOUND: ^ u ^
By far one of the more predictable one shots I've ever read, but it's how the ideas are put across and drawn onto the page that really sticks out to me. I'm a huge sucker for Hakuri, let's just get that out of the way. Sachi-iro no One Room is one of my all time favourite series and the fact I, who typically struggles with distinguishing styles and remembering faces, could tell at a glance from just the color page that this was by the same artist is saying something. I adore everything about this. The art is gorgeous and the story itself, while asI said predictable, is executed in a way that made me want to continue reading even after I hit the end. I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot, especially if you're looking for a little one-and-done. Stories of the yandere genre are seldom written well but this has given me a taste of hope for the future, as there are so many stories that could benefit from this kind of approach that values a strong foundation over needless complexity.
