When I first started reading this manga several years ago it was simply a funny yandere twist on the Otome genre. Reading it now, though it has some yandere in it quite strongly it no longer feels as comedically so. The ending was fufiling enough, a better conclusion than most of this genre. However I feel like there were definitely rushed moments in the story. The characters are decent, and there is a good mix of interactions with them however I wanted more. A good read for those interested in the genre but not the best romance story in general.
This manga has a lot going for it. It is one of the early innovators of the Otome-Isekai genre (It's novel came out in 2014!!!) and even then it was throwing a fun yandere twist onto that genre that had been based off of works like the Angelique games and Hamefura. The tone gets more serious as the story goes on, so be forewarned it doesn't really stay that lighthearted (although I suppose it's ironic to expect a yandere premise to be lighthearted when a key cornerstone of that archetype involves very dark actions). The art is competent and generally pleasant, but nothing to writehome about. The presentation/pacing of the story can get a little messy at times, but the story remains engaging noentheless, especially as a subversion of the genre. Overall, worth checking out for its historical value alone, but a generally pleasant read.
Déjà vu—Licorice Radiata knows it all too well. Throughout her entire life, she has been plagued by vague feelings that everything has previously already come to pass. Then, after seeing a portrait of her fiancé Wolfgang Eisenhut, a surge of memories flow into her head: she is the rival character of a yandere otome game, and Wolfgang is one of the many "target" characters. In the original storyline, Licorice was the jealous rival, committing terrible and violent acts, and even in the heroine's good ending, she would die a bloody death. Mustering her courage and scattered recollections, Licorice is ready to do whatever it takes to avoid such a dreadful downfall, but can she prevent Wolfgang from becoming a yandere? It is not that simple to alter the course of fate, and she may have to accept that one's nature is not so easily changed. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
