When one asks “What do you like on your boyfriend/girlfriend the most?” “His back!” or “Her hair!” is certainly not an answer one would anticipate. This manga has this kind of extra twist – the main couple being fetishists. The drawings are beautiful; the character designs are beautiful and the artistic detail on hair is also beautiful, given its focus on hair fetishism. There is a lot of situations with opportunity to draw the characters in outfits and various poses (especially girls) to show even more beautiful drawings. Every panel is truly a piece of art. The manga searches for ways to get the couple together, but isvery slow; some chapters even feel irrelevant. It gets boring pretty quickly overall. On the bright side, it has some truly heartwarming moments and even some spicy romantic interactions. Aside from that, the story is pretty generic based on rom-com standards. The whole manga is divided into two stories, pretty much equally long. Like most people who have read it, I also prefer the first story much more than the second. Remaining good with the visuals, the second story is just more empty and has much more visible flaws that are present in the first one. Later it reintroduces the characters from the first story, which may bring a bit of familiarity and renew interest to read further. Nothing is really that much special about this manga. With only one very weird quirk at hand, it offers virtually nothing new. You may want to check it out for the artistic value, but not really for the story; especially the second one. Pros: + very good artstyle + heartwarming moments Cons: - very slow, nothing much happens - much weaker second plot line - originality based solely on one goofy quirk Double-edged: +/- has some story progress, but very limited +/- later combination of both stories 5/10 (AVERAGE)
After a night of reckless drinking, Tatsu Yunoki wakes up and finds a mysterious girl sleeping next to him. Recalling the alcohol-induced craziness of the previous night, Tatsu realizes that he had confessed to the girl called Kotoka Hatsushima about his hair fetish and she had unabashedly done the same—except in her case, it was a back fetish. This leads to the duo living together as their desired lifestyles turn into reality. Fetiple follows the story of these two oddballs connected by their weird fetishes for each other, as their personalities lead to amusing day-to-day activities. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Fetiplle or Fechippuru is about couples that love each other due to fetishes. Although it may sound weird this has become my favorite manga to date. It has pretty fleshed out characters and I really liked it because of that. This story is pretty unique as it dives into a weird topics but somehow manages to not weird you out but instead to keep you entertained. Then we have the art style and let's just say it is really beautiful as it captures every scene. As for enjoyability I think people would really like this manga if they tried it out.
The English title of this manga is quite possibly the most generic name for a romance I have ever heard. I understand it's going for somewhat of a hidden meaning, but I still don't like it. The Japanese title is Fetiple as a combination of fetish and couple. That's a much better title that captures the essence of this manga, couples that come together due to their fetishes. Bizarrely, the translation seems to not want to ever use the word "fetish" at all, so it uses the word "kink" a lot. Within the manga itself it translates fetiple as kinkouple, which I suppose is fine, but I just found it strange. Anyway, the manga has two pretty much completely distinct stories. The first story takes up the first five volumes and features a man named Yunoki who loves women's hair and a woman named Kotoka who loves men's backs. They get drunk at a bar and solely due to satisfying each other's fetishes really well, they start going out and not long after that immediately start living together. The comedy initially is absolutely hilarious. I think part of it is how original it is. Rom-com manga with adults living together are pretty rare in general, but combine that with such a large focus on kinks and you get something very unique. The problem however is that it is very narrow and thus starts getting stale. The manga tries to get around that by introducing new characters with new kinks, but that doesn't help much because the core humor is still exactly the same. The romance side doesn't fare much better. There's a decent story in there about a couple that's only together due to their fetishes actually falling in love with each other independently of them, but it's not all that well written. There's not much progress until the fifth volume at which point it was rushed so this ending wasn't all that satisfying. There's also a side story about a side character that had a crush on the male lead, but it was underdeveloped. The second story takes up the last four volumes. It takes place six years later and is loosely connected to the first story, but really loosely. It serves as a pretty satisfying epilogue for the couple in the first story, but at the same time you could easily read just the second story without the first story and not miss anything. Though I don't recommend actually doing this. The second story is about a high school throuple that comes together due to their being a chain of fetishes between them. Naoi has a thing for women's hair. Miori has beautiful hair and has a thing for small people. Mugi is tiny and has a thing for good smells. And low and behold, Naoi has a smell that Mugi loves. Once again, a pretty unique concept that does some pretty interesting things to hilarious effect. However, there's not all that much new material and it starts getting stale really quickly. At this point it feels like it stops trying with the fetish stuff and essentially just becomes an incredibly generic highschool love triangle rom-com where both girls are in love with the male lead. And it's not a well written one either. As such, the ending just in general isn't all that satisfying. I would also like to specially comment on the usage of kinks in this manga. It feels like they're something that should be a core aspect of the manga, but the specific kinks themselves aren't. What matters is that the characters have the kinks and are very weird about them. It's essentially just for the purpose of comedy and not for ecchi. The manga doesn't really do anything all that interesting with what the characters do to satisfy their kinks. It's all very basic and incredibly tame. I'd even go as far as saying it's boring. Thus, I don't think this manga will do all that much for you if you're interested in the specific fetishes. The art is decent enough but not all that special. It also felt like the art got worse in the second story as compared to the first. tl;dr: A manga that's only strength is a pretty unique and funny concept that unfortunately gets stale pretty quickly.
this is biased but its a masterpiece simply because i also have a long hair fetish But seriously the rating would be more of a 6-7 The premise is quite unique although if anyone is looking for an indepth exploration of sexuality's importance in a relationship this isnt really the one besides some crumbs here and there especially near the end of the first story. It's mostly a comedy slice of life manga if anything The characters were enjoyable to see and i dont find anyone annoying at all although theres a part in the manga where the female lead does something the male lead doesnt like andi found that a bit hypocritical and hurts the female lead's character a bit The art itself however is amazing especially with how the hair is drawn which is kinda the point
