Decided to write a review for this one as there isn't one already. Although the plot may be similar to other stories I've read in the past, I found this manga to be a breath of fresh air. Each chapter more or less either portrays a "case" in the first volume, with more emphasis on the couple's developing relationship in the second. The situations that the characters find themselves in are usually outlandish and absurd, so if you are a fan of realism in writing, this may be an issue. I found the comedy to be funny and ridiculous in all the best ways, similar tothe kind of comedy you can expect from Isaku Natsume. It was light hearted and good humoured throughout, which I appreciated! The artwork is one of the main highlights for me. The character design is absolutely beautiful in my opinion and you can see a lot of care was taken in terms of the characters' expressions, clothes' etc. It had a very modern feel to it also, i.e. the characters actually looked pretty trendy! The focus is on the main characters and there isn't a strong supporting cast, but I didn't see this as too much of an issue. One of the best things about this manga is the clear respect that the author has for her characters. This manga flirts with some of the more problematic tropes that plague the BL genre and thoroughly subverts them, in a way that I found surprising. We are left with a healthy and happy couple, with clear boundaries and mutual respect for one another. The importance of communication is highlighted and the end result is a couple you can't help but root for. All in all, if you are looking for a fluffy, light hearted manga depicting a healthy relationship with some surprisingly good silly comedy, look no further!
In the town of Karasugaoka, two voluntary groups have been formed to prevent crimes: "VOICE" and "Karasukai," in charge of the east and west areas respectively. The groups' leaders, Sou Izuhara and Shinba Tetsuji, are unable to get along with each other, winding up in arguments every time they meet. In reality, Sou deeply admires Shinba, having been rescued by him in his youth; however, embarrassed by his feelings, Sou ends up throwing insults at Shinba instead. As the two crime fighters continue aiding their community, will Sou be able to muster up the courage to confess his true feelings to Shinba? [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Go read this if you enjoy a cute little short manga with cute characters and funny plots this is for you. I really enjoyed this manga, it was really enjoyable and I love both Sou and Shinba, they both had so much to offer in terms of characterization. I thought the fact that they looked all tough and stuff well they were helping people was a breath of fresh air. For me I love a cool and bad ass looking character, but I often find they can turn out to be unlikable or just disgusting because of their actions. So, I was really refreshing to seethat this manga did something different with the tough guy archetype. The only reason that I gave this a lower score than I would like to have was because of it being so short. To me it really felt like the plot was rushed to much. My favorite thing about these kinds of scenarios is when we get to really cook on what this relation ship is and how it affects people in the long run. Or in more simple terms I love a good push and pull of tension. And I also just want to see more Sou he was absolutely hilarious lol. Last thing that I want to talk about is how absolutely beautiful the art is. Especially some of the ending panels, like wow man I could cry from how good it was. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
