What?! There's no review for this manga?! Then I'll try and write one (spoiler free, btw), because it was really enjoyable :). This is a brief mystery manga that continued to have me thinking until the end. I personally wasn't 100% satisfied with the ending, but it made sense. Following Ryota Sakamaki, a mangaka, on his quest to find the truth within the truth was engaging, and the way clues were spread into the story and later revealed was awesome. This mystery series only revolves around one mystery in a satisfying way. I wish a couple of the plot pieces were fleshed out more, but overallit was really good. The artwork was incredible. It was cool to be reading a manga where the main character, Ryota Sakamaki, is a mangaka, and the artwork for his manga was as engaging as the overall art for the series. Some of the art, like the character art, might be viewed as too simplified, but I see it as a perfect fit for the series. The backgrounds had a good amount of detail. In terms of characters, the main focal characters are well-fleshed out, at least for what is needed for the series to work, but I still wish a few other characters were fleshed out more or tangled into the story more. Some secondary characters that appeared could have either appeared more or in others ways in order to have the story make more sense or flow better. Enjoyment for the series was a 9! It was a fun read that made me want to keep reading at the end of every chapter. The mangaka kept me hooked on the series. Overall, I gave this series an 8. Hopefully this review is helpful to you!
Starring "an unlikely love for two," Pendulum of Love is the latest series to be serialized in the popular magazine Shoujo Jump. This serialization is also the debut of Ryota Sakamaki. Through his editor, the shy rookie manga artist receives some help in the form of complex background artwork from a mysterious person. Though the pair frequently work with one another, Ryota has never once met his assistant, leading to his curiosity about the person's identity. Upon further investigation, Ryota learns that his background illustrator is Katsuo Baba, a prisoner convicted of the infamous "Halloween Murder"—a crime committed within the local park three years ago that his own work seems to reference. While hesitant to work with a criminal at first, Ryota quickly picks up on Katsuo's desperation, and after meeting him face-to-face, Ryota becomes determined to set him free with the power of their manga!
