Story: 7 Art: 8 Character: 6 Enjoyment: 7 The story was cute, it had some ups and downs but puppy makes it worthwhile. I liked that the storyline was built around the little puppy more than the high school drama, I felt it gave the story a bit of originality. The school drama - all the drama really, I did not like. I did like Yuzu's personality and the relationship she had with her friends but I'm not too sure I agree with their outlook on relationships - its ok to cheat with someone if your feelings are genuine and long distance relationships are miserable? What. The dramais tolerable but I don't think it benefited the story much. The interactions between Soutarou, Yuzu, and Shiba are really cute, they make the storyline work.
Due to her mother's recent paralysis, Yuzu Horiuchi's life takes a sudden turn when she transfers from a prestigious all-girls high school to a co-ed one. As Yuzu struggles to adjust to a new routine with the help of some friendly classmates, she meets seemingly quiet Soutarou Kashio at a puppy adoption gathering. Together, they become enamored with the same Shiba Inu puppy they straightforwardly name "Shiba." The only problem is, neither one claims they can take care of it. However, when the puppy goes up for adoption, Yuzu finds herself in a bidding war and losesâbut it turns out that Shiba's new owner is none other than Soutarou! Refusing to relinquish the pup, Yuzu proposes a compromise: she pays half of Shiba's expenses and they share joint custody. Together, Yuzu and Soutarou will raise Shiba and grow closer as pet-owners, friends, and maybe something more. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
In the spirit of being upfront, I will go ahead and say that 100% no Kimi e is very mediocre. There is nothing new or exciting about it; nothing to set it apart from the tens of thousands of other shĆjo manga out there. When the first volume begins, we see Yuzu being introduced to her new class. She quickly makes a couple of lady friends and bonds with SĆtaru. After that the story just slows down as we watch with mounting boredom of how Yuzuâs feelings begin to develop for him. The whole clichĂ©d notion of a girl falling for a person whoâs ina long-distance relationship isnât very new to the shĆjo genre, but some crazy plot twists help to make things more exciting. With 100% no Kimi e all we have is the Shiba puppy. The abrupt nature of the series makes it impossible to really create any sort of connections to any of the characters, including the protagonists. Her friendships are established early on and donât show any details or development. One minute itâs âHi, Iâm Yuzu,â and the next theyâre all chatting about boys like theyâve known one another for years. With SĆtaru, we donât learn much about his personal life. Aside from a part-time job and his co-ownership of Shiba, thereâs literally nothing else going on with him. Such colourless and severely lacklustre protagonists are a bit of an annoyance for me, to be perfectly blunt, not to mention wholeheartedly pointless. One of the elements of the book that did interest me was Yuzuâs mother. She is recently disabled and her relationship with Yuzu is different because of it. The motherâs whole world has taken a huge shift because of how sheâs affected psychologically and emotionally by her physical limitations. Itâs brought up in the first two chapters, but then so hastily âresolved,â and then never spoken of again. I hated that! This one concept couldâve allowed for so much depth, or at the very least add something a bit more appetizing to a seemingly mundane story. If you are looking for a shĆjo manga that will make you giggle, or fangirl with butterflies in your tummy, then I recommend avoiding 100% no Kimi e. If you just want a bit of mindless reading material that is very short, simple and with brief sweet moments, then you may not mind it too much. Just donât expect a heavy-handed tale of epic romancing! 3 puppies outta 10!
STORY: 7/10 There is nothing really different about this story from other shoujo mangas. Itâs about a girl who moves into a new town and falls in love with a boy while getting used to her new life and her co-ed school. The story didnât drag on since there are only 8 chapters. There are some funny and cute moments that are caused by the puppy that Yuzu and Soutarou raises together. Art: 7.5/10 The art wasnât bad. The art wasnât anything special but it was fluid and clean. The art consists of bishounen and shojo style drawn characters. In one of the chapters, two of Yuzuâsfriend are hard to tell apart. The main protagonist sometimes does look similar to Suetsuguâs other works for example, chihaya from Chihayafuru. So if you read her other works then you might get mixed up Yuzuâs character with other characters. Character: 7/10 The main spotlight was on how Yuzu and Soutarouâs relationship developed in the series by taking care of the puppy. There wasnât many supporting cast but not all of them were given time develop except for Yuzuâs mother and one of Yuzuâs friend. Other supporting characters were flat and didnât change over the series because they werenât given much attention. The main progatonist and the puppy had some character development over the series. Enjoyment: 8/10 If you are looking for a cute, sort, happy, romance manga then look no further. This manga could be a refresher when you are reading long and too much drama mangas. Overall, I enjoyed this manga and I hope you do too.
