I read this on a whim and wasn't expecting it to be this great, I now have 4 cavities from how sweet this was and I don't care. The characters I immediately latched onto because of their (at first glance) contrasting personality and dynamic they share. The 'somber seemingly uncaring one x the bumbling kinda awkward one' is a favorite of mine and the mangaka executes it well. Their interactions always managed to warm my heart and compelled me to deeply care about them. Their character designs and how they were drawn also stood out to me, especially Izumo. Speaking of the art style, it's adorableand gorgeous at the same time and I love it. I actually didn't know it was a manga at first and assumed it was manhua from the cover art, which I'll give as a compliment. The story isn't groundbreaking or anything but it's simple and sweet, enough for a short one-shot. Though I do have to say, it felt cut short. When it hit the climax of the story, I was honestly surprised it came up so quickly. But it's only 5 chapters so what can you expect? Would have liked it longer but how it ended though sudden, was satisfying enough. Overall, it was the sweetest read I've had in awhile and greatly recommend this manga is you like shounen ai.
Years ago, Izumo saved a child named Ryuta from a youkai. After promising to return and adventure with him in the future, Izumo leaves Ryuta and forgets about his promise. By chance, Ryuta meets Izumo again. Over the years, Ryuta never forgot about Izumo and trained hard to prepare for their adventures. Izumo claims to have no memory of his promise or Ryuta, but that doesn't stop Ryuta from embarking on a journey with Izumo! (Source: Fantasista Inc.)
Seriously guys, I wish we could have more chapters of this shounen ai because it is just darn cute! Funny enough it has a somewhat similar art style to Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun with the colours and stuff. It just was easy on the eyes and made you read more which unfortunately not many BL is always "cute" but seeing Izumo and Ryuta made the reading experience or mine worthwhile! The reason why I'm giving it a 7/10 as I said again, I felt it needed 5 more chapters at least cause it was a bit rushed. Thankfully that's my only complaint! Definitely folks you should read thisBL if you're sick of looking bishouen boys the whole time lol!
I wanted to leave a review for this manga since it has been a few years and most of the feedback out there feels a little dated. Consider this a fresh point of view. The first thing that immediately caught my eye was the art style. It is simple yet elegant, with a nostalgic touch that makes it stand out. Izumo alone shows how talented this mangaka is at design. The visuals are genuinely beautiful and elevate the entire reading experience. I am usually not a fan of fantasy tropes like the ones used here, but this BL was surprisingly wholesome and absolutely worth it. It isshort and to the point, but still manages to feel complete without missing any marks in its storytelling. Because of its brevity, I rated it a solid seven. That score is not because it lacks quality but because it left me wishing there was more. This manga is a perfect βrainy day readβ or something to pick up when you are not sure what you are in the mood for. It is easy to get into, satisfying to finish, and leaves a warm impression. My Ratings Characters: 8/10 Plot: 7/10 Pacing and Art: 8/10 Overall, it is a great and refreshing story and I am genuinely happy with what it is. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a short, beautifully drawn and wholesome BL to enjoy.
