Let me tell you. You will definitely enjoy it. It maybe feels off at first but it gets better and better and until it becomes what it wants to be. At the very beginning it has a lot of problems like some mistakes in drawings and explanations (If you have experienced living in a village and done some of the things they do in this manga, you might get an uncanny valley feeling, cause some of them are a little bit wrong) but later on it avoids these kind of mistakes so be patient. The art style is great and unique. It really fits the coldand snowy environment and setting of north Europe and it gives a good cozy vibe. Clothes are fluffy, Foods look amazing and characters are believable. The story is about Ritzhard, a 28 year old nobleman from a outlying country. Where spring and summer passes quickly and for months ground is covered in snow, most of the livestocks are Reindeers and during polar nights sun does not rise for weeks. Ritzhard has been looking for proper wife but because of his place of living most woman reject his offer Until he meets the love of his life. This manga is heavily based on cooking (Although as I said there are some mistakes in designs and explanations so pls don't try these recipes at home if you are not familiar with them but GOD these foods look DELICIOUS!! Try searching the name of the foods and use the real recipes!!) The pacing is off in my opinion. there are a lot of skips from the source material which I believe can ruin your experience. Tell me you opinion about some events that are not explained but you will find out later in the comments. One of the things that were not explored as much is the Native American family (Sorry I don't remember their family name). At the end of the series their circumstances are a little bit explained but as a whole they are one of the good side characters in the manga. Theroporon, Ruruporon and Miruporons' backstory is not clear. It has been said that they came to Europe with Lucas (MC's father) but what they used to do, what made them to travel is not clear. I hope these subjects are well explained in the web novel cause it is unfortunate to write such a good story and not include backstories. If you are looking for a wholesome, love story this is it. But if you are strict and sensitive about details it can bother you.
Most would call the Levantret territory a frozen wasteland. The sun does not shine for half of the year, and even when it does, the inhabitants must still endure the frigid cold. Even so, what Levantret does have is a boundless sky, spanned by the ethereal Northern Lights. The local lord, Ritzhardt "Ritz" Salonen Levantret, loves his homeland more than anyone else. He is in search of a wife, but few women are willing to give up their lives of luxury and move out to the boonies. High society calls him the "Yeti of the Borderlands" and looks down on his simple lifestyle. At a dinner party, Ritz is enraptured by the decorated lady-knight Sieglinde "Sieg" von Wettin and immediately asks to marry her. To the surprise of most, she accepts a "trial marriage" of one year. For Sieg, this is a chance to discover what it means to be a "wife" after spending the majority of her life in the military. On the other hand, Ritz wants to show her everything his beloved home has to offer. In the wintry Levantret, from hunting in the blistering cold to handicrafts around the cozy hearth, every day is filled with new and warm memories. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Reading this manga fills me with peace. The romance is a slow burn, yet it always grows and evolves. The characters are soft, yet they are well-written and well-defined. Their dynamics are very healthy, very greenflag as the kids like to say. The cute moments are aplenty yet they are never cloying or overpowering. And the slice of life elements are informative without it being stuffy. Love how gentle Ritzhard is. And I also appreciate how the story handles Sieglinde. She is slowly turning more feminine as the story goes, taking more female roles, but her character remains resolute and determined as she always was. There aresome moments where they intentionally go through typical romance tropes, and the story itself knows how jarring it is. Pure, so pure, it heals me fully.
