I believe the other review mentions that this is simply a rip off of the acidwire arc, but I'd like to go ahead and point out to anyone reading both reviews that this is the original one shot that gave birth to the entire bleach series, so keep in mind that in a sense the acidwire arc was taken from this one shot. With that being said: The bleach short story is top notch as far as one shots go. The artwork may not seem to compare to Kubo's current style, but at it's time and even on it's own it is extremely well drawn init's own right. The proportions are stylized but still visually appealing. The story is very well constructed and once again shouldn't be compared with other arcs in Bleach. It really does a nice job of showing the darkness even in our good intentions. And the comedy is universal and so that shows why the one shot was well received internationally. The characters are original and well built, and they backstory for the characters has enough depth to make them interesting but not so thick that you have no idea what's going on. Overall I enjoyed it, and I think anyone who really loves Bleach would too. It's the starting point for one of the most popular manga to date, and so that in itself makes it interesting enough. Even on it's own though, it is a great read and tells a very touching and truthful story.
Since childhood, seeing ghosts has been a part of Ichigo Kurosaki's ordinary life. However, things go awry when he and his spectral attachments get caught in a fight between Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki and a Hollow. As Ichigo learns, Soul Reapers are spiritual beings assigned to safely guide the dead to Soul Society, whereas Hollows are corrupt spirits that prey on innocent souls. Though Rukia manages to defeat her opponent and keep everyone else out of harm, she exhausts her powers in the process. No longer capable of performing her duties, she resorts to forcing Ichigo to become her substitute until she recovers. Despite Rukia's abrasive behavior, Ichigo handles his new routine with ease. But when he is tasked with sending one of his classmates to Soul Society, Ichigo gains a compelling outlook on the afterlife. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
When I began to read this,I thought it would be something I hadn't seen before. After looking through it,it felt like deja vu.It was basically Acidwire all over again. He was just replaced with Orihime's dad. It's been done before.Don't do it again. No offence to anybody who liked this, but I just didn't like it as much as I liked the original. If you feel like reading the same thing over again, that's your choice.I personally didn't want the Sora story all over again.
It's the basis for what would become Bleach. This one-shot is the beginning of what we've come to know as Bleach. Here we see many concepts that would be used later in the series. In any case, that damned flying-in-the-air problem still persists... I recommend it to anyone who's a true Bleach fan and wants to learn more about the series.
Hi there! Listen, I'm only 7 chapters into the Bleach Manga so far as of the end of March 2025, and this Saturday night I thought why not see how the original one-shot was like. Bad idea. Bleach Manga is alright so far, I think it's a fun Casual read, but good God, I was struggling to finish this one-shot, I disliked almost every page of it. Horrible dialogue and badly drawn. All of the characters, except Orihime's dad feel like they've been robbed of any human emotion. That second to last page was so freaking underwhelming. I haven't seen such horribly written, soulless dialoguein a long time. I don't recommend it unless you're a hardcore Bleach fan. For newcomers, It's a horrible way to start reading Bleach. Just ignore this thing and start from the serialized Manga.
