Watashitachi wa Koi wo Shiranai is simple but effective, a wholesome and lighthearted romcom that delivers exactly what it sets out to. Its standout quality lies in its two leads, who are both likable and genuinely compelling. Theyâre fleshed out just enough to rise slightly (and meaningfully) above their respective archetypes. The female lead is an aloof, introverted bookworm whose hobby is writing web novels. The male lead is a clumsy yet popular âgolden retrieverâ type who is jokingly infatuated with his little sister. Seated next to each other in their first year of high school, the two gradually grow closer. Itâs far from a uniquesetup, and you shouldnât expect much more depth as the story progresses, but itâs charming. One plot point I found particularly interesting was the female lead writing about her friendship with the male lead. The author doesnât handle it with much subtlety, but itâs a realistic portrayal of the naĂŻvetĂ© and earnestness of young love. Iâd recommend this to anyone looking for a soft, feel-good âfluffâ manga with likable characters and minimal drama.
Autumn of the first year of high school. Yuki Amano and Hayato Kuga are sitting next to each other after seat assignments changed. Kuga starts trying to meddle with Amano, who is shy and never seems to want to smile. Amano also starts to take an interest in Kuga, who is very popular. But neither has known their first loveâthey don't know what it is. A heartwarming love comedy about people who don't realize they're in love. (Source: Official Site)
