This is a very calm manga with almost no drama, it is about a couple who enjoys everyday life together exploring their feelings, learning every day how to move forward as a couple. It's a little slow at first but then it becomes a work of art, the mangaka draws very well. For it to be his first work, I felt a little sad to finish it after four years of reading it, but everything that begins ends. I hope they have an extra where they get married because if they did I have no doubts.
Nanoha and Chidori are best friends who attend the same all-girls high schoolâand also share a heart-pounding secret: they're lovers. Through sunny days and tumultuous storms, they're always ready for new adventures together. For Nanoha and Chidori, best friends turned lovers, normal situations for close friends turn into electrifying moments through the lens of love. Between sharing furtive looks and promise bracelets, the pair spend their hectic school days flirting in secret and hiding their relationship from their friends. (Source: VIZ Media)
Itâs about Chidori and Nanoha; both are high-schoolers in an all-girls-school in Sendai. Theyâre best friends to everyone else, but lovers in secret. Story Even though theyâre already together at the start of the first chapter, theyâre both new to dating and havenât really done anything except confess to each other. Itâs very slow-burned and takes a while until they get closer physically. Expect lots of blushing and awkwardness. Itâs mostly just fluff and everything is kept lighthearted. There are two rivals â each in a different volume â but it doesnât get too dramatic and you know they both will work it through. It does get abit emotional here and there, but itâs mostly kept lightly. This is an everyday manga to relax. Around the middle, after theyâve gone through a bit more hardships, it gets more mature, with less awkwardness between them and more communication, as well as more skin-ship. (No smut scenes though.) What I didnât like The few mentions of body fat. There is no main character, who is chubby or overweight. Sure, Chidori being short and having a larger cup size does look chubbier than the other characters, but sheâs still rather thin. Yet for some reason the author thinks that this is chubby and keeps mentioning it here and there. There even was a whole chapter of Chidori being depressed because she was afraid Nanoha will hate her, if sheâll notice that she gained a bit more weight. (There literally was no difference though.) This topic does get a development in the 2nd half of the series, when Chidori wants to buy a dress but is afraid itâll look fat on her. A character then tells her that that doesnât matter and she shouldnât restrict herself by worrying what others think; if she wants to wear something, she should do it because she enjoys it. And that was the end of the chubby comments in the series, which was a great development on the authorâs side. Still, though, I would find it better if the previous ones were changed or cut out altogether. Iâm aware those comments are rather for comedic purposes, but considering she is NOT chubby at all and doesnât joke about it herself, it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. If she were a bit overweight, okay, but thatâs not the case. So itâs not only toxic but completely unnecessary. At least those comments were kept to a minimum. The rest is all positive. And while it was a bit too awkward between them at the beginning (for my taste), it is overall a cute series. A plus is also that thereâs no homophobia. Only some characters are pretty heteronormative, but that also comes because of their secrecy. Overall I do recommend it, if youâre into GL/Yuri, and just want something lighthearted to read/binge.
This series takes its time, with a slow pace and not much happening plot-wise. The main characters can be quite awkward, but thereâs a certain charm to their interactions that kept me entertained throughout. But it really isn't that deep. Maybe focusing more on the side characters would have been an interesting direction, as they could have brought some additional depth or variety to the story. If youâre looking for lots of drama or unexpected plot twists, youâll probably want to look elsewhere. But if youâre in the mood for something sweet, light, and easy to enjoy without overthinking, this series is a delightful choice.
