The score does not truly indicate this work's true worth. I understand the current rating since it did seem like a terrible work when I first read it. The story is about Yuu the main character trying to fix his mother's odd apperance; she looks like a doll shaped like a swiss roll. Every chapter wasen't funny and excels at weirding me out every single time, but I underestimated it. The chapters were meant to build up to the finale of the story building relationships between characters and especially Yuu with Hanada. We all had good memories with friends, family, or enjoyable experiences and wefeel the nostalgia. The author builds up the relationships between characters for the finale to envoke nostalgia. Although it could be done better without misleading readers it still got the idea through.
Former idol Touko Minayoshi retired at the peak of her popularity, going down as a legend in the world of show business. Years later, she is living a normal life as a happily married wife with a son named Yuu. But one day, returning home from school, Yuu discovers that his mother has transformed into a strange creature, and despite his best efforts, he is unable to figure out the reason. Years pass, and the threat of Touko's situation being exposed appears. Now, the teenaged Yuu finds himself sent back in time to before his mother debuted as an idol. Recognizing this to be an opportunity to set things right, Yuu embarks on a journey to bring his mother back to her original form! [Written by MAL Rewrite]
I personally enjoyed this series for how short it is. I started reading this thinking it was a romcom, then assumed it was a joke manga. However, the unexpected conclusion and the story that lead up to it is truly worth the read. I am amazed how attached I got to some of these characters despite the manga's wackiness. Story: 7 The story is based around our main character Yuu who has one mission: to find a way to fix his mother who is in a deformed vegetative state. But luckily for him, he awakens the ability to "time slip" where he cantemporarily go back to the past and potentially change his mother's fate. While the premise is somewhat interesting, the plot seems to be going nowhere to for the majority of the series. It's just our main character, Yuu running around messing with people while trying to stalk his younger mom. But as the story goes on, these events lead to something peculiar, which changed the present in ways Yuu did not intend. While changes are minimal, these changes lead to a stunning conclusion. Art: 6 The character designs to be cute and sometimes has fan service, particularly when it comes to Hanada. The character's are fairly expressive, but it does not particularly stand out compared to other works. Nothing much to be said here. Characters: 8 Yuu: He does not change much for the majority of the series. Despite being the main character, he serves more as a comic relief. He can be seen as annoying sometimes thanks to his bombastic and somewhat distorted character, but the effects it leaves can be heartwarming at times. Hanada: She can be seen as the secondary protagonist. She is first introduced as a mature, bossy person, but is quickly reduced to a somewhat pitiful character. Hanada is the character that has received most character development throughout the series and you can't help but love this tsundere girl. Touko: Yuu's mother is not a heavy focus despite the premise. While she is an important character, she simply serves as Yuu's motivation. Also her deformed self has no character.
While the story is not the best it is still good, the art is for my taste not outstanding but stil very good and the characters are loveable. I very much enjoyed this manga. I first thought it might be a typical mothercon manga, but i can say it's definitely worth the read for the last few chapters. The time traveling aspect was poorly explained and some aspects of the story seem to be poorly thought out, which is why i can't give more than a 6 or 7 for the story. The characters develope over time and the gags are funny, even if i am nota great fan of the many lucky sukebe moments. But thanks to the comedy and characters as well as the romance aspect at the end I could get a great akmount of enjoyment out of it. Also Hanada-san best girl.
