While the romance is slow, it is still a sweet and amazing story, with many other side romances and friendships. I've found that a lot of girl's love manga doesn't seem real. Sometimes one character seems to be in love with the other for no apparent reason, or some things that aren't normal are treated as way too normal, but this manga feels real. I don't know how to describe it, but everyone's emotional progression is tangible and not random and jerky. The art style is AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL! Also, I learned a lot about cats, and using what I learned in this manga, I becamecloser to my cat at home.
I feel like it is necessary to give this manga some more love, as it might just be one of my favorite Shoujo Ai manga. Catulus Syndrome is a fantastic, underrated Girls Love story. It's filled to the brim with cute girls and catgirls, and is sure to warm the heart of even the coldest of readers with its sweet romance and fun slice-of-life atmosphere. Yuki Shirakaba is a girl inflicted with this 'Catulus Syndrome' who tends to be very anxious and adorable, and she takes the spot as our protagonist. She meets Riko Ayano, an absolute cat magnet, on the first day of schooland their relationship starts from there. The art is very pretty. Its impossibly charming and all the characters are so expressive, especially Yuki. The cast of characters grow healthily throughout the manga, each with their own breed and catty attributes. Every character feels unique from head to tail, with their own style and personalities. Each character has a contribution to the story with their own relationships and quirks. I've never posted a review before, but for this manga I've made my first. It's just too cute for me to overlook, and I still feel the warmth from when I read this manga for the first time.
Shirakaba Yuki is a girl with the Catulus syndrome, which afflicts her with cat ears and a tail, plus some cat-like behavior. In the middle of her high school entrance ceremony, Ayano Rikoβwho is also a first yearβcomes in with a mountain of cats on her back. Apparently she's a cat magnet... Unexpectedly they become friends? (Source: MU)
I love it. I love it so much. Why the genre doesn't include "Yuri" is beyond me. This review contains information that is revealed throughout the manga (spoilers), however most things here should be minor details or be something that happens near the beginning. One of my favorite things about this is the inserts about cat behaviors. "Cats flick their ears when agitated" and other cool cat facts. The characters are extremely cute. Yuki is a shy girl who has Catulus Syndrome. Because of her condition, she was rejected by the parents of her would-be friends, so she can't socialize well. Catulus Syndrome only occursin females, and those with it are more likely to fall in love with other girls. Catulus Syndrome causes the humans who have it to exhibit cat-like behaviors and attributes, such as cat ears and tail, as well as being able to see in the dark, strength to jump several times their height, along with things like disliking water, displaying their emotions on their tails, and more. They can also fully turn into cats, however this isn't at will, it needs some kind of stimulant. The entire concept of Catulus Syndrome is incredible adorable. Riko is a cat seductress. Cats seem to stick to her like magnets. And Yuki has seemed to fall quite madly in love with her. Riko works at her uncle's cat cafe, and over time, many Catulus join. Yuki is extremely adorable, both in behavior and appearance. A word of caution, if you are sensitive to that, make sure you have something to hold off your nosebleeds. She is very shy, and blushes often. She also has a lot of "internal meetings" where we see her thought process. Despite not being able to socialize, while she may not look like it, she is smart. Now a word about the ending. I loved the ending. It wrapped up the main story well, but some of the side stories left me wondering. For example, will others ever find out that Yuki is Tundra? Overall, I just gotta say, if you love cats, catgirls, transformation, cute girls falling in love, or anything like that, you will probably love this underrated manga.
A very cute and chill story, published in 8 volumes that feel a lot shorter since it's so easy to read. Cute girls doing cute things, lots of cat trivia, a bit of romance, and tons of friendship! The story is set in a world where people randomly contract a syndrome giving them cat-like features and a full cat transformation, but the technical side isn't important; most of it is left unexplained. Some are born with the syndrome, Riko, the human main character, seems to be a cat magnet, and only girls seem to contract the syndrome, etc. The story technically has the Supernatural tag, butwhat we're looking at is a cute Shoujo Ai Comedy with catgirls, and from time to time, a new invention from the professor to play on the cat attributes. The romance part is teased throughout most of the story, but the focus is clearly on the friendship between the girls and their growth. The art is unbelievably cute, especially the 'classic comedy chibi characters' and the emotional scenes. Each character has their own quirks, which work really well. My favorites are the Hannya face Yuki makes when she is frightened, and the internal consultations she has with kittens appearing on her to discuss. In conclusion, it's a very sweet and relaxing story, with an adorable art style and a cast of characters that you cannot get bored of!
