Just finished Jinmen, and honestly⌠I donât know how to feel. On one hand, itâs such a wild, creative concept grotesque, disturbing, and undeniably unique. The moment you start, it pulls you into this bizarre, nightmarish world where the line between horror and absurdity gets blurrier with every chapter. It dares to go places most manga wouldnât even touch, and for that alone, I kind of respect it. The intensity, the pacing, the constant escalation it keeps you hooked, even when youâre not sure why youâre still reading. Thereâs this chaotic, dreadful energy that just works. But on the flip side⌠man, some parts just felt off.The tone shifts can be jarringâyouâll go from psychological horror to oddly emotional moments that donât always land. Some character decisions had me side-eyeing my screen like, âReally? â And while the core idea is genius, I canât help but feel like the execution got messy at times, especially toward the middle and end. Like it wanted to say something bigger, but couldnât quite decide what. That said, Jinmen is definitely one of those stories you wonât forget. Itâs flawed, unsettling, oddly thought-provoking and occasionally kind of dumb but in a way that weirdly works? Itâs not for everyone, and I wouldnât even say itâs good in the traditional sense, but itâs. something. Something wild, raw, and maybe even a little brilliant under the chaos. If you're into horror that's more âWTFâ than polished, give it a shot. Just donât expect to sleep easy after. Or ever look at animals the same way again.
High schooler Masato Jinguu has always liked animals. Ever since he was young, he visited the zoo and even befriended young elephant Hanayo. Now he is back after 7 years and the zoo has changed to Fuji Safari World where customers can get up close with the animals...but that's not the only thing which was changed. When Masato brings his old friend Hitomi to visit, they discover that the zookepers are being attacked by the animals. By the time that they find the caretaker of Hanayo, Nakata, they realize the horrible truth of the animals having the faces of humans! Now the animals are out for revenge for being cruelly experimented on... (Source: Manga Rock, edited) Included one-shot: Volume 4: Sakaba
